Chapter - Twelve

Zara

We all just sat silently. I could not understand one thing, if cliff bought back harsh memories for me then does it also bring back such memories to them?

Paxton does not look like a guy who would do such stunts. Miles for sure looks and sounds like a person who would. Julia can not be estimated. She seems like a person who would do such things if provoked.

I tried to study their expressions. All were silent as if they are trying to remember something or maybe forget something. Paxton cleared his throat and then stood up. “ I’m feeling sleepy. I’ll sleep for a while guys” he said and laid down on the bed.

“Guys, even I’ll sleep. It was a hell of the day today. I need some rest” Julia said and she also went and slept off maintaining a distance from Paxton. “What will you do miles?” I asked him and he just hummed. “Huh? What?” I asked him again and he came back to his senses. “I’ll just be awake. I’m not sleepy” he said. I went and slept off.

Dream

It was already evening and I was standing near the coast. I was all alone and enjoying the view. The sun had already set but still left few red rays of light at the farthest end of the sea. I could see the evening star shining and the moon came into view.

I closed my eyes and I could hear the waves gushing. I could feel it in my heart. Likes roar of the nature. I opened my eyes and then went forward . I touched my feet.

Suddenly the scene shifted. I saw the place. The familiar place I dreaded the most. I never wanted to come back to this place. I looked at myself . I was younger. Much younger. I had been converted into my miniature self. Or should I say time travelled.

I stood there and saw him. He was in his dark blue shirt and grey pants. He was always like this. He wore what he felt good and never cared about others. It was dark again. I dreaded this the most . I did not want to see it. I want to miss it . And I did.

I woke up sweating. I saw that Paxton was still asleep. But Julia and miles were no where to be found. I rubbed my eyes and then focused properly. I turned all around and saw Julia bear one window where’s miles was near the other. They were standing and watching away in the window.

I stood up and went near Julia “Hey, when did you wake up?” I asked her and she smiled. “Just a while ago. Miles is acting all weird. I went and spoke to him but he just snapped at me. Then he apologized and then asked me to leave him alone for a while” she said. We heard some movement and we turned to see that Paxton was awake.

“So, everyone awake? I wanted to speak to you guys about something” miles said. “ No man. I still need to sleep. I’m hell tired” Paxton said yawning. He was about to sleep off when miles interrupted.

“Paxton, could you please sit down?” miles asked him. We both went and took our seats. Even miles came and sat. “What? For what?” he asked him. “I have to tell something. It is important. Just please come and sit down” he looked as if he would break any moment. Paxton slowly came and sat down. I don’t know why I felt like he was acting weird. Like someone who was caught doing something. Maybe even Paxton was hiding something.

“I don’t know if this word CLIFF is only a nightmare to me or for you guys also. I trust you guys and I don’t even have a choice to not. I have to trust you guys. So, I’m going to tell you about this.
