  Lysa's POV   For a second, my mind went completely blank. I couldn't process what I was seeing. I blinked, thinking it must be a dream, a hallucination, some trick of the light.   But the wolf was still there. Real and solid. Its chest rising and falling with deep, steady breaths.   Terror shot through me like ice water. My body reacted before my brain did.   "Ahhh—!"   With a frightened cry, I shoved the wolf beside me with all my strength, scrambling backward off the bed.   The wolf, startled awake, tumbled off the mattress and hit the floor with a heavy thud.   It looked up at me, blinking, and for just a second, our eyes met.   I froze.   Golden eyes.   Its gaze wasn't feral like a wild animal's. Instead, there was something… intelligent in its eyes.
