Sarah drifted back into the ballroom and took her expected seat next to her mother and aunt. Her mother flipped her fan open and spoke quietly behind it to Sarah, “Where have you been?” “In the garden,” Sarah said while she steadily scanned the room for her mystery man. She looked up at her mother shocked face and added to give her a piece of mind, “I went out there by myself.” Her mother resumed her composure and spoke, “That is not proper. What would people say if they notice you out there?” “That the ballroom is crowded and hot and wished they would have thought of it first.” The look on her mother face told her she did not find the comment amusing. She stared down at her hand for a moment and spoke, “I am sorry. I will try to remember my place.” Her mother face brighten and she reached over squeezed her hand. “This is not America, dear. You have to be careful.” Sarah looked at her mother and gave a small nod, “yes mother.” With that her mother smiled back at her. She then turned to see their host moving toward them. She rose with the elegance of a swan and Sarah followed with as much grace as a horse.   They both sank into a respectful curtsey. “Ah, ladies,” Lady Dimple said, “I do hope you are enjoying the party.”  Julie Douglas smiled at her, “Yes, the music and dancing is lovely.” Sarah kept her eyes respectfully down admiring the small jewels on Lady Dimples’ toes. Lady Dimple scanned the room fussing with her fan. “Where has that boy gone too?” She smiled to Sarah, “You must meet my nephew. The two of you would get along wonderfully.” She humped and finally started waving a young man towards them. Sarah looked to see who she was calling. When she noticed the young man her glaze went immediately back at the floor. “Have you met my nephew?” Lady Dimple usher the young man forward. Sarah never looked up. “Miss Douglas, this is my nephew, Lord Daniel Wright.” Sarah followed her mother into a deep curtsey. While they sunk low onto the ground, Lady Dimple continues, “And this lovely creature is her daughter, Miss Sarah Douglas.” With a slight groan she rose from the curtsey and looked toward the gentleman in question.  He was the young man she escaped from earlier. He grinned at her as if he knew some deep dark secret and in fact he probably did. She smiled sweetly at him and allowed him to take her hand.
