Adrian doesn’t say anything again until after breakfast. I don’t ask more questions either. My father, who didn’t care if I lived or died after he sold me off, suddenly wanted to see me now? I pick at my food, chewing on tiny bites as my mind races. What did he want? Money? To apologize for being a shitshow of a parent? I glance at Adrian once or twice, trying to read his mind.
