The Chelsea MysteryThis story goes back to Mac’s third year at the University of Cape Town Medical School, ten years before our interview took place. In his student time he supported himself by working in an art shop in Long Street that sold prints and imitations of famous masters. She, mysterious Chelsea, lived with her mother. Chelsea had completed her matric at Wynberg Girls High two years before. Now she was adrift, working as a waitress. Mother and daughter lived in the small in between suburb of Chelsea. In fact, daughter Chelsea was named after the suburb. It was a sub-suburb, a girdle suburb of the larger Wynberg, south of Cape Town.
