Chapter 1:Introduction

319 Words
'Larissa!wake up' Brighton screamed as Larissa fumbled for the bed sheets to cover herself. Coleen entered the room, removing the blanket and throwing it on the floor. "this girl will always be late, I told you to pour water on her" "Am awake , don't throw water on me" Larissa took her heavy body to the bathroom, and took a two minutes bath, she was already late and her teacher(Mr Frank) was going to scold for the hundredth time this term. She quickly prepared herself and drove to school in her GLE Maybach. She pulled into the school parking lot at 7:47 AM, already seventeen minutes late. As she grabbed her backpack from the passenger seat, she mentally rehearsed an excuse. There was nothing original left in her arsenal—she'd used traffic, car trouble, oversleeping, and family emergencies at least twice each this term. The hallways were nearly empty, just a few stragglers heading to first period. Larissa speed-walked to her locker, yanked it open, and shoved her bag inside, pulling out just her textbooks and phone. She could feel her heart pounding as she approached Mr. Frank's classroom. Through the glass window in the door, she could see him writing on the board. History. She took a breath, smoothed down her damp hair (still dripping slightly from that rushed bath), and pushed open the door. Mr. Frank didn't even turn around. "Miss Larissa. Again." His voice was flat, exhausted. "That makes twenty-three times this semester. Take your seat." As she walked to her desk, she caught Coleen smirking at her from the back row. Her best friend mouthed "water worked," clearly proud of her wake-up strategy. Larissa couldn't help but smile, despite the situation. At least Coleen would always have her back—even if it meant soaking her awake. "And wipe that smile off your face," Mr. Frank added without looking up. "You're not here for entertainment"
