The Prophecy of Hydrangea

TWENTY EIGHT *WOLF RACE*

Constantine’s POV

As I pulled into the parking lot of the training field for today’s training, I sighted Andrea’s car already parked. ‘So good of her to be here already', I thought to myself. The training is to start in the next 20 minutes, and gamma Jasper would be our coach.

I turned to my mate, Brenda who was sitting beside me in the front of the car and said.

“Andrea is quite early today angel. When we spoke this morning, I assured her I was going to be here before her you know”.

Brenda chuckled before replying.

“And she beat you to it baby boy. You know Andrea is not one to give in to challenges.”

I didn’t respond to that, cause I know how true that was.

I parked my car, stepped out and quickly went and opened the door for Brenda.

“You can go in, I will get our stuff out of the car” she volunteered on coming down from the car.

“Would that be okay with you, I would like to go meet Andrea, from the look of things, she should be alone inside” I requested.

“Yea I know” she smiled at me.

“don’t worry I can manage” she added.

“You are a darling Brenda” I said.

I quickly planted a gentle kiss on her lips and dashed off into the field in search of Andrea.

I found her all alone in the field, lying down. She had an earpod on, and was singing alongside the music playing on her phone. I had always loved to hear her sonorous voice, and I have never stopped loving the sound of her music.

Ever since after the full moon, I have never had an opportunity to be alone with her for a long time. Now is an opportunity to talk to her about the turn of event at the ceremony at least before Brenda joins us.

In a bid to reach her on time, I jogged to where she was. I think the sound of my steps attracted her and she turned to my direction.

“Hey Andrea, you are here already” I said to Andrea as I got to where she was lying.

She sat up and was obviously excited to see me. She brought out her phone from her pocket and put off the music playing on it.

“Hey Consty darling, I see you actually arrived before me” she said sarcastically.

I can’t help but notice how beautiful she has become, in fact she looks more beautiful by each passing day.

“You look amazing princess, you glow like the flowers each passing day, looking more beautiful” I said lost in her world.

“Thanks Consty, you never cease to complement me, and I do appreciate you for that”

Her eyes sparkled in response to my praises.

I watched how easygoing she is, acting like we never shared any emotions. She takes life just as it comes and never grumbled on what life throws at her.

“We have never really had time to talk since after the full moon ceremony.” I said.

I paused for some response, and when it was obvious that none was forthcoming, I continued.

“I am glad I finally have this time with you Andrea. I can see you are doing good and I …”

“Go straight to the point Consty, come on, this is your Andrea over here, please cut off the formalities.” She cuts in.

She giggled as she stood up from where she was sitting and gave me a very warm and tight hug and instantly I felt all the tension in me disappear. She held my hand and led me to sit with her on the field.

I felt so relieved after her embrace, I smiled at her, she is the same Andrea I had known since she was a child.

“Thanks Andrea” I said.

I was still lost on how to begin to tell her all that I was hoping to say to her.

She ignored my presence for sometime, probably to give me some time to breath.

“Consty I have been fine. I can’t tell why I didn’t get a mate that night, but I have this strong feelings that I am not meant to be without a mate. So relax man, just like you, I will be alright pretty soon. And yeah, I am very happy for my Brenda, I have always had this feelings that she fancied you. Obviously she knew you might be the one earlier on Consty, and most times, I feel guilty for almost taking over her love and making her bottle all her feelings inside.” She said in a calm voice.

I looked at her with wide eyes and jaws dropping, completely astonished as to how she knew the exact questions I had been longing to ask.

Sensing my worries, she says.

“Worry not my friend, a pure heart is an open book”.

“Talking about Brenda, why isn’t she here yet, I thought you came along with her?” she asked.

“I am here Andrea” Brenda replied.

I turned and saw her walking towards us.

“I gave you guys time for yourselves, I know Consty had been longing to see you privately even though he does a perfect job at hiding that fact.” Brenda added.

She came and sat right beside me and held my palm in hers.

“You look astonishing Andrea” she complements Andrea’s exceptional beauty.

“Thanks Brenda, you look exceptionally amazing too” Andrea replied.

“I believe it too Andrea, your mate is somewhere, not too far from you. And yeah, I had always fancied Consty and had this strong conviction that we were meant to be. Anyways, I succeeded in hiding it until when I turned eighteen and almost went crazy from bottling it all in. However Andrea, there isn’t any need to feel bad over anything, I know you love Consty as a friend and never intended to hurt me or anyone for that matter.” Brenda said.

This is beginning to get more scary, how did Brenda know what I had discussed with Andrea before she arrived. I looked at Andrea and Brenda interchangeably, hoping one of them would provide a concrete, tangible and understandable explanations to all of these, and Brenda was the first to speak up.

“I was able and to hear all of your communication with Andrea” she told me.

Knowing that I needed more clarifications as her answer was not sufficient enough, she added.

“I think it all started the moment Andrea hugged you. At that moment, I was able to see and hear all that you were saying or doing”.

On hearing this, I turned to face Andrea, but she was busy with her phone, and pretending not to pay attention to I and Brenda’s conversation. I knew better than to ask her about what I just heard so I decided against that and resolved to wait and see how this Brenda’s sudden gift plays out.

Brenda’s words drew me out of my thinking state.

“Gamma Jasper is here with Lilium already.” She said.

She waves at them.

I turned to see the Gamma and his daughter Lilium already in the field.

Andrea's POV

After Consty left with Brenda to go welcome uncle Jasper and Lilium, I got up and ran through the field, getting ready for our little racing competition. I have always won in all the running competitions that I have had with my friends, with Lilium following behind. I had always tried to have a clear cut winning against Lilium, but no matter how hard I try, she always ends up exactly at a feet behind me.

But I have promised myself that today was going to be different, I will ensure that she doesn’t even see my back in the race. Even though this would not be the first time I am taking this decision, this time I intend to see to it’s fulfillment.

“Slow down Andrea, the match has not even started”.

I heard a voice say behind me. Continuing at my pace, I looked behind and saw Lilium running right after me.

“Talk of the devil,”

I sighed to myself. I kept on going at my pace.

Looking at the order end of the field, I could see uncle Jasper directing Consty and Brenda on their training, they were doing some press ups. With the amount of determination that they are putting in that I can tell today’s training would be nothing like the rest.

“Come on Andrea, you should know I could get to you if I want to” Lilium said.

Was that a threat, I thought to myself. Get to me if she wants to?. I chuckled, Lilium can be funny most times. Anyways, I love challenges and would never shy away from any.

“I dare you Lilium, let’s see how you catch up with me”. I said as I drastically increased my pace, running like my whole life depended on it.

I ran for about a minute when a saw a shadow pass me. I looked at my front to ascertain what it was, but to my surprise I saw Lilium ahead of me. I checked my back to be sure my eyes aren’t playing a fast one on me, but I couldn’t find her behind anymore.

“How did you do that Lilium?”. I screamed out in surprise.

She slowed down for me to get to her before she replied.
