RUNAWAY GIRL

CHAPTER 3

NATHANIEL POV

I got up in the morning with a small weight jumping on my back. I got up to see the little devil we call Sydney is jumping on my back to wake me up.

“Get up! Get up Naty. Jacky is already awake and is eating all of the cereal and leaving wowe for us. Get up! Get up.” Sydney says jumping on my back.

“Yes, yes. I am getting up.” I say and she gets off my back so that I can sit up on the bed.

“I’m going down to stop the cereal mowster.” She says and runs down.

I quickly get up, put my phone on charging checking the time to be 7 in the morning, shower for a good ten minutes and after wearing a new set of clothes consisting of my regular jeans, white tee, black Chuck and Taylors and my all time favourite black leather jacket. I am already half a badboy due to my clothing style might as well go the whole mile now. I leave my hair a little wet and messy, chicks dig it. I saw the time was 7:19 on my phone, well, school doesn’t start till 8 and it is a 10 minute drive from here.

I saunter down to the kitchen with my phone in my hand checking todays last night’s notifications on my phone and look up to see Jack flirting with a blushing Mae who is feeding Syd her baby cereal.

“Look who’s awake. At what time did you get to bed man. It was pretty late when I heard you enter and thought of letting you sleep late.” Jack says.

“Yeah, it was quite late. Hey Mae. Don’t you also have school to go to?” I ask taking a bowl and putting milk and cereal into it.

“Naaaa. I graduated a year early because my parents put me a year earlier and will go to the community  college next year.” She says.

“Maeeee. He is my boyfiiiiiii. Don’t talk to him like that.” Syd says which causes Mae and I to laugh and Jack to mumble something under his breath.

“Did you say something, Casanova?” I ask.

“Naah. We’re getting late for school. Let’s go. See you later, babes.” Jack tells Mae and kisses her check quickly and runs out before she can react to it. She just blushed at that and starts feeding Syd again with a small smile on her face.

I chuckle and follow him to his car. No point of taking two cars to go to the same place.

“So when are you going to ask her out, man?” I ask Jack.

“Never. She is too good for a Casanova like me. Plus she  doesn’t like me like that.” Jack says.

“Oh please. All of us have seen how you both act around each other. There is definitely something there.” I say.

“Nope. Not gonna happen bro.” Jack says and walks off to the car.

“Whatever you say bro.” I say and follow him.

As were pulling out of the driveway we see the new girl Melinda running after the new English teacher and screaming profanities at him.

“You f*****g thick knuckleheaded bigfoot.-” I stopped listening to the other words which came out of her mouth as my brain concentrated on the three words she spoke.

FLASHBACK

I saw her running behind him in circles for the millionth time in 5 minutes.

“Can you guys just stop. I show is going to start and I am not waiting for you all to stop all this, i.e., whatever you both are doing.” I say.

“Yes, little one. You really should stop. I am really tired and want to watch the show. All this for a small bag of skittles that you can buy from the store two blocks away.” He says.

“Thank god someone in this room is mature. I swear I really don’t know how Adam and Ally put up with you people.” I say.

“Shut up before I kill you to Nathan.” Astrid says typing her long red hair in a bun huffing and plopped down next to me. As she sits down, Adrian also sits down next to me and the show of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles begins.During the episode Adrian keeps slipping me the skittles slowly and both of us feast on it. As soon as the episode ends we throw the wrapper at her and run out of the door.

“You f*****g thick knuckleheaded bigfoots.” She screams and runs behind us.

FLASHBACK END

“Nate. Nate. Natee” And then suddenly someone slaps the daylights out  of me.

“What the f**k dude. Why the f**k did  you f*****g slap me?” I screamed at Jack.

“I have been calling you for the last 10 minutes and I have no idea what was on your mind but f**k the bell rang and you weren’t f*****g moving. I had to do something.” Jack said.

“Whatever.” I said and got off only to start walking towards the school building to carry on with this shitty day.

MELLISSA POV

I got up with the alarm clock blaring in my ears. I shut that piece of metal and saw it was 7:15 in the morning. I got off from the bed and picked out an outfit for today as I felt like dressing a bit nicer than usual today. I took out my skinny black jeans with rips at the knees and paired it with a beige bomber jacket under which I will wear a black crop spaghetti and for shoes I am going to go  with my all time favourite black combat boots. I quickly hopped into the shower and after a good fifteen minutes I headed downstairs to the kitchen for some breakfast.

“Ohh. You look nice today.” Mom says placing a stack of pancakes in front of Luke. Such a baby!

“Thanks ma. I felt like dressing up today. 3 pancakes please with chocolate syrup please.” I say sitting down at the kitchen dining.

“Where’s dad?” Luke says.

“Sleeping. Came back late from work. You know how it gets.” Mom says.

“So you wont be working in the agency like dad?” I ask.

“I am working sweetie, it’s just that I have to have a mundane job as a part of the plan and as for your dad he is finding out info on ‘you know who’.” Mom says.

“Alright.” I say and continue with my breakfast.

Luke gets up after finishing and washed his plate. My date is near and I really need to keep my skittle supply high. I go to the my hidden drawer in the kitchen only to find it empty.

FUCKING EMPTY!

I turn around and see that asshole of a brother running out of the house and I start running after him with my school bag in my hands.

“Lucas Avery Scott. I will kill you. You f*****g thick knuckleheaded bigfoot give me my skittles back before I murder you in cold blood.” I scream on top of my lungs and jump on his back.

“Okay. Sorry sorry you monkey. Here take it and get off my back you heavy piece of human flesh.” Luke says pushing me off his back after he gives me the skittles.

I happily took the bag of skittles and hopped towards the car.

‘f*****g child.” I heard him mumble and I just giggled as a response.

The ride to the school was quick and after bidding good bye to Luke I went to my locker to get books for the first lesson again today being history. I made my way to the class and saw Riley and group sitting along with Nathan this time. As I entered the class Jack called out my name and waved at me.

“Oiii, Mel. Come over and sit with us.”

I wave back and go towards them taking the only empty seat with was next to Riley. “Peggy isn’t coming?” I ask.

“Nah. She has history with Mr. Wolly at 12. Just now she has Sociology with Ms Cameron.” Riley says.

“So how was your first day yesterday? Met any cute guys?” Arya asks.

“Nope. Not as of now.” I say.

“OMG Mells. You wound us pretty bad you know. You straight up said that we aren’t cute. How bad.” Jack says.

Moses just nods and laughs quietly looking at Arya. One thing I have noticed is that Moses looks at Arya a lot. Like a lot.

“Jack, she said she hasn’t seen cute guys and we definitely do not come in the category of cute guys. Cute guys are like what 13. We are hot brooding young men.” Nathan says with that stupid but swoon worthy smirk.

“Oh please. Brooding men my ass. My granny is more manlier than you three.” Riley says and the three of us girls start laughing.

Mr Brown enters the class and announces the topic for the day. We again have English after History so we wait for Luke to come and teach us the Scarlet Heart.

When Luke enters I see Arya nudge Riley slightly and the ever so non stop talking Riley shuts up and blushes while looking down.

“Okay so class, all the teacher’s here are supposed to have a TA, i.e., the teacher’s assistant, so since I do not know you all personally I will analyse you for a week and decided who my assistant should be. And if anyone wants to become the assistant give me your names and I’ll see what to do next.” Luke says.

“Mr Scott, I would love to assist you in anything and everything.” Bethany says.

“Really. Then I would like you to assist me in explaining the meaning of the chapter. Please start reading and then explain it to the class Ms…” Luke says.

“Bethany. Bethany Anderson.” She says and Luke immediately looks at me saying ‘Is this Riley’s bitchy cousin?’ and I nod signalling him saying ‘on point bro’.

“Yes, Ms Anderson. Open to the second chapter and read. Wait let me make this more interesting, come and stand in the middle of the classroom and read the whole thing out loud and explain.” Luke says and all of us snicker at the back.

“Serves her right.” Riley says.

“But sir.” Bethany says but Luke cuts her off and says, “You only wanted to help me Ms Anderson so this is you helping me. Hurry up and come to the front and start reading we don’t have the whole day.” Luke says.

She gets up and goes to the front of the classroom and starts reading.

“Louder Ms Anderson. I don’t think anyone at the back is able to hear you. Ms Scott can you hear her?” Luke ask.

“It could be a bit louder sir.” Riley says instead of me.

“Please stand while you speak and I don’t recall asking you.” Luke says.

“Sorry sir. My name is Riley Anderson.” Riley says.

“Well Ms Anderson, next time please wait for your turn to speak. Sit down and you Ms Anderson here, I’ll just stick with names, Bella please continue reading a little louder this time.” Luke says purposely saying her name wrong.

“Bethany. It’s Bethany sir.” She says.

“Never mind continue.” Luke says.

The whole lecture goes by with Bethany reading and Luke interjecting her purposely again to correct her. After the lesson gets over we have lunch so after keeping our books in our lockers we head to the cafeteria as Peggy was already waiting for us there. After taking lunch we sat down at the table we sat at yesterday. It was a round table so I was sitting between Moses and Riley with Arya and Jack on either side of them which left Nathan and Peggy to sit right in front of me. During the lunch hour I could see Nathan looking at me with judgmental eyes as if I committed a murder and he is trying to investigate me. Ignoring him I continued eating my pizza with pineapple topping on it accompanied with ketchup.

“I seriously don’t know how can she eat pineapple on pizza. It’s so gross.” Jack says making a face which in return makes me glare at him while chewing.

“Ya. It really is gross. Doesn’t it taste sour and sweet.” Moses says.

“Oh! He has a voice now! AND. THAT. TO. FOR. INSULTING. MY. PIZZA. It’s not gross that is just how my taste buds like it.” I say and huff out loud crossing my arms.

The others start laughing and Nathan just glares at me and immediately leaves pushing his chair away.

“What happened to him?” Arya asks.

“He has been acting all strange this morning. He didn’t even listen to me expressing my feelings about Mae.” Jack says and widens his eyes suddenly as if he let the cat out of the back.

“I knew it. I so f*****g knew it. Pay up bitches, pay up.” Peggy says exclaiming loudly.

“What! Jack! I thought you flirted with her coz you thought she was pretty. I didn’t even know she was your type. f**k you just costed me 50 dollars.” Riley says and Moses and Arya raise their hands in favour of her.

“It was just supposed to be a crush. Even I don’t know when I started liking her.” Jack says blushing.

“I’ll go see Nate. God only knows what’s up with him. Jack come with me.” Moses says and walks in the direction Nathan walked along with Jack.

“What’s wrong? Does he not like me or something because he had been looking at me the whole lunchtime with a judgmental look and now he just vanished. If he is not comfortable than I will not intrude.” I say.

“No. No. It’s nothing like that. It’s just he’s been through a lot like we said before.” Arya says.

“Yes. It’s just that he is too sensitive in some topics and you remind us of a dear friend we had. She was very close to Nate and her moving away suddenly took a big toll on him especially with all that was happening with his family at that time.” Riley says.

“What happened to his family?” I ask.

“It’s not our place to tell, Mels. He is very sensitive and guarded on this topic. If he is comfortable with you in the future he might just tell you.” Peggy says.

“Peggy, you know that is never going to happen. He doesn’t even share stuff with Moses anymore. He is not going to trust her, hell he  doesn’t even trust us with his feelings.” Arya says.

“True that.” Riley says.

Peggy just nods and to change to air of the table starts talking about how Luke humiliated Bethany.

“That was so hilarious. I mean she was throwing herself over him so much.” Arya says.

“Seeing her earlier self she never tried on teachers.” Riley says.

“Duh. Coz we never had teacher’s like the great Lucas Scott in our school.” Peggy says smirking.

We all laugh loudly and hear the bell ring for the next lessons.

I just hope Nathan is fine.
