CHAPTER 6

NATHANIEL POV

What just happened? Did she just- just kiss my cheek! Oh my god! I touched my cheek and it was hot, like burning hot. f**k! How did this happen. No girl is supposed to bother me. f**k my pants are also tightening at the thought of her soft and full lips on my cheek. Heck, how good her lips would feel somewhere else.

Just then I realise that I have been staring at her door with a small smile on my face and thinking bad thoughts about her for god knows how long so I quickly turn around and start walking in the direction of Jack’s house and see those two bastards looking at me with what I think is smirks on their faces which really needs to be wiped out by me.

“Whoa whoa whoa. Did you see someone get kissed right now Mossey poo.” Jack says in a sing singy tone.

“Yuck. Don’t you f*****g speak to me in that tone. I really wonder if you are our boy friend or girl friend.” Moses says in an annoyed tone ignoring his question completely.

“You’re no fun. Moving on the loverboy here. So do you like her?” Jack asks.

“Ya. I have never seen you act like this with anyone except-” I cut Moses off and say, “No. Don’t take her name. I don’t need another woman in my life specially when they always end up hurting me. You guys very well know it.” I say feeling my high go down.

They look sad suddenly.

“I know you have been through a lot but you can’t just sit like this and ruin every chance you have with a girl who is good for you.” Moses says.

“What are you talking about?” I say.

“It’s okay. He is in the denial phase at the moment but please do not ruin your life okay.” Jack said.

“What denial phase?” I say.

“Nothing. You will get it later child when you achieve enlightenment.” Jack says and earns a glare from both Moses and I.

“Jack go get some sleep, you really need it. We will meet later at school tomorrow.” Moses says and gets into the drivers’ seat and I followed him to the passenger seat.

“G’Night guys.” He says and goes inside.

“Night.” We say.

“You staying at your’s or mine?” He asks.

“Your’s tonight.” I say and Moses starts the engine and starts driving towards his house.

We reach the house and see that uncle Ben and Aunty Naveah , whom I also call mom and dad, were sitting on the couch watching tv. They heard us coming in and turned.

“You know both of you should really call and tell us if you will be coming to this  hotel we stay at and if we needed to prepare food your royal asses.” Naveah says.

“Sorry mom. We were at Jack’s place.” Moses says.

“Yeah. We were working together on a project and it was late so Kathy and Keith made us stay for dinner.” I say.

“Okay. Get to bed both of you it’s a school night. Have all the fun you want to have tomorrow.” Dad says and we head upstairs to our rooms.

I quickly took a shower and changed into some new boxers and came out into the room to see Moses laying down on the bed using his phone. He looks up once he hears me entering the room.

“Come sit down here and spill everything you are thinking inside that pea sized brain of yours.” Moses says patting the space next to him.

“What the f**k do you mean?” I say getting a bit offended on the fact that this bastard knows me better than anyone.

“You know what I mean.” He says.

“Fine, but you are going to tell me what is wrong with you and why have you been so stressed today.” I say.

“Fair enough.” He says and I go and sit next to him.

“So I did feel something when all that happened earlier.” I say.

“What. What happened earlier.” Moses says trying to tease me.

“Shut up. I felt warm and hot everywhere. And when I mean everywhere I mean EVERYWHERE.” I say emphasizing the ‘everywhere’ again.

Moses starts laughing at this and says, “Seriously! By everywhere do you mean to say your pants tightened.”

“Yep. But that doesn’t matter as that is not the thing that is troubling me. It’s Mellissa herself who is troubling me.” I say.

“What do you mean?” Moses says.

“Haven’t you seen how identical she is to her.” I say.

“What do you mean? She had red hair with green eyes and Mellissa has brown hair with brown eyes. That is poles apart.” Moses says.

“No. Not the way she looks man but the way she behaves and she has green eyes identical to the ones she had.” I say.

“No she has brown eyes. You know how observant I am and I saw her with brown eyes. Plus she was no scaredy cat, and you saw how she reacted so insecurely to it you just taking a video of her.” Moses says.

“You got a point their but I saw her eyes, they were crystal green like her’s and she wasn’t insecure like someone was there, a person who she should be scared of and is sacred of.” I say.

“I get you there and have you seen that we barely have known the girl for a month but she is so comfortable with all of us as if she-”

“As if she has known us for ages.” I say completing his sentence.

“Exactly. That s**t is crazy. I mean the words like STUPER were used by her just because-”

“She was lazy to say two separate words . Yah yah, how can I forget.” I say.

FLASHBACK

“You you donkface, frickprick, struper. Give me back my skittles.” She screamed at the top of her lungs making her curly red hair fly everywhere in frustration.

Listening to her reaction towards me stealing skittles was priceless.

“Wait what was that again? What language were you speaking suddenly?” Jack said.

“English!” She says loudly.

“Leave her be. She is not going to stop until you give her the skittles back.” Peggy says.

“It’s not my fault she is short.” I say.

“Hey! How can you 5’1’’ short. You’re the giant here with 5’6’’ height. It isn’t fair you’re only 14 and so tall.” She says and stops to glare at me.

We have a mini stare down and she suddenly jumps on me takes the packet of skittles from my hand and sticks out her tongue at me and sits on the bench. I follow begind her and sit between her and Riley.

“Jack FYI those were the short manes I made for words like ‘donkey face’, ‘fricken pricken’ and ‘stupid fucker’.” She says.

“I thought you didn’t swear.” Arya says.

“Well she only swears when it comes to some people like her brother and this i***t here.” Riley says smacking me at the back of my head.

“Why don’t just say the words like a normal person then?” Jack says.

“Well, Jack if you haven’t noticed that there is nothing normal about this little fire here.” I say and everyone starts laughing.

“Shut up. It saves time and I’m too damn lazy.” She says.

Hearing this all of us start laughing.

FLASHBACK OVER

“Hey bro, you spaced out. You okay?” I asked.

“Yeah. Enough about me. Tell me why are you so upset?” I asked.

“I’m not upset, I am worried. Worried about Arya.” He says.

“What do you mean? Something wrong with her?” I ask.

“I am really sorry for hiding this from all of you specially you but I have to tell you now. In fact we are telling everyone tomorrow.” He says.

“What do you mean?” I ask.

“We were dating secretly and before you ask why didn’t we tell you guys is because if we didn’t work out and s**t happened between us then it would split the group. I know you are upset but we didn’t mean any bad.” Moses says.

“It’s okay, I get it. And from your point of view it is okay but it did hurt a little. But why so suddenly are you guys telling us? I mean are you guys sure now that you are going to go strong.” I say.

“We are telling everyone because Arya’s pregnant and we are keeping the baby.” Moses says leaving me utterly shocked.

MELLISSA POV

“Adrian. Adrian there is a car trailing me and I don’t know what to do? Please help.” I say in hysterics.

“s**t, f**k! I knew something was really up when that bastard hadn’t done anything for so many months.” He says almost losing his s**t.

“Please Adrian. Do something, anything.” I say

“ARE  you wearing your bracelet?”

“yes.”

“Good. I am going to call Special Agent Booth and tell him to send back up to your location. Please drive safely but fast. We live in a remote neighbourhood.” HE says reminding me and cuts the call to call Special Agent Booth.

I was so engrossed in talking to Adrian that I didn’t realize that the car had caught onto me and hit the rear bumper of my car and my car rotated in circles and then finally crashed into a tree. I hit my head on the steering wheel very badly and my vision started growing hazy and out of place. It was like something was sucking me into oblivion but I was still holding onto a string of life.

It took me a few moments to gather my vision and as my vision was restored my car door opened and I saw him. The scar faced green eyed man about whom I have nightmares every night. Whose eyes are so evil that shake me to the core and drive me insane.

“Ah. Your brother and you really know how to play the chase of a cat and mouse huh. Too bad he wont see you vanish into thin air.” He says menacingly.

“Please. Please leave me. I beg of you please.” I say.

“No love. We are going to be together for eternity and be happy together. Well the happy part is just for me while I make your miserable. Good night love.” He says and punches me in the face and I can feel him carrying me to his car and driving off while was slowly surrounded by darkness.

I suddenly got up and saw I was still in my room sweating terribly with a scared Luke shaking me up.

”f**k! Are you okay? Little one are you okay?” Luke asks.

“Adrian. Adrian. He is going to come and take me with him.” I say crying and clinging on him.

“Shh. Shh. Little one it’s alright. He is not going to catch us and you know that.” He says trying to calm me down.

After sometime of him consoling me I spoke, “Please stay the night with me.”

“Wouldn’t have it any other way.” He says and lays down next to me.

“Mom said they would be home late, are they home?” I ask.

“Nope but they will be home soon.” He says.

“They have been out very late these days. Do you think they will be able to catch him?” I ask.

“Yes. I am sure of that. We have one of the best agents helping us.” He says.

“What happens to us if he gets caught? Where will we go then?” I ask.

“I don’t know the answer to that little one. I really don’t know.” He says.

“Okay. I am just going to go to the washroom and be back.” I say and he lets go of me and I walk towards the bathroom.

Once I reach the bathroom I lock it and splash cold water on my face and look at myself in the mirror.

What has my life become in these couple of years. One day he was one of the people I loved the most in the world and now he is the person I never want to see in my life again. My life would have been so simple without all this f****d up s**t. I would still have my friends knowing me as Astrid and not Mellissa. Mom would be with us and dad would be the happy going to golf father he always was. But one night spoilt everything and till now I don’t know why he is behind us.

I splashed water again on my face and after wiping my face and applying moisturiser, my eyes suddenly caught something. My contact lens case with my brown colour contacts in them.

They were in the bathroom which means I took them out in the evening with showering and didn’t put them back as I always put them on the bed side table. Then the realisation hit me.

Fuck! I forgot to wear contacts in the evening and the whole time with the boys I didn’t have my contacts on and how close physically I was to Nate would have let him see my eye colour. I am truly f****d.
