Chapter 2

1190 Words
Fraya When we get to the hotel, I head straight to the reception. I would like to get to my room and change. My wolf has been on edge since we arrived at the airport and she wants out. I walk up to the receptionist that helps me sign into my room with a smile and I am baffled at how ignorant humans are towards the supernatural. I guess it is easier to ignore the danger out there, rather than face it. I thank the lady and then make my way to my room. The room looks more like a small apartment on the inside. There is a small kitchen and a living room with a bedroom with an on suit bathroom. The bathroom is what draws my attention the most. It has a Jacuzzi for a bath and a shower that seems to have ten different places for the water to spray out.  I can’t wait to take a long warm bubble bath, but before that, I need to let my wolf out for a run before she drives me mad. I take the walking trail that has the least humans on and as soon as I am out of sight, I let my wolf out. She is more on edge than she has been since the war and I am high alert as I know something big is coming. I let my wolf run for a few hours before I head up to the room to soak in the bath before I have to get ready to head to the diner where we will have our first event for the weekend. There will be a show and dinner, a chance for the shifters to get together and mingle before the big day. After my bath, I get dressed in and emerald green dress that matches my eyes. The dress clings to my curves and shows off my leg with the slit running up the side. I have silver heals that complement the dress with straps crisscrossing up my ankles. I have my bright red hair pinned into a messy bun and long dangling earrings in. The back of the dress is open and the front makes a low dipping v-neck. Eleanor designs all my dresses for events and made me promise that this would be the dress that I wear to the first event. Normally I don’t like being so exposed, but the dress fits perfectly and makes me feel sexy. Isaac is dressed in a red tux that I wouldn’t have ever thought would’ve looked good on any man, but he somehow pulls it off. The red makes his blonde hair and blue eyes stand out and highlights his muscular built. “Dear lord if I was straight I would be dragging you back into your room and have you up against the wall in no time. You are going to be turning heads tonight my queen.” He says before bowing before me. “Stand up straight you fool! You know I hate it when you do that.” I scowled him. I might be the queen, but I will not have people bowing to me as if they are below me. “As you wish my queen.” He says with a teasing smile. Isaac leads me to the diner and I know he will be heading for the front, so I quickly pull him to the back corner of the diner where we will be more or less in the dark. He gives me a frown but I give him a pleading look and he nods in understanding and walks with me to the table in the far back of the restaurant. I don’t do well in crowds and I hate small talk, I never know what to say and I prefer not having to answer any questions about my private life. Not that my private life is interesting at all, I just don’t like it when people ask personal questions like, have you found your mate yet? The diner is filled with twenty round tables that can each seat six people. In the front of the diner is a stage where there will be a show on later in the evening. The lights hanging from the ceiling looks like little stars surrounding a big chandelier in the middle. The walls are a cream color with designs of Greek gods carved into it. The room is beautiful, and if it wasn’t about to fill with shifters from all over the world, I might have even enjoyed myself, but not even the soft music can distract me from the discomfort I am feeling of all the eyes that is constantly our way. We sit and watch as the dinner starts to fill up. Isaac keeps making fun of what everyone is wearing or telling me the rumors he heard of some of the shifters present and I can’t help but laugh and joke with him. As usual, the dragon king and queen is the last to arrive, always wanting to keep the rest of us waiting. The second they walk in, everyone seems to quiet down. Harriet is dressed in a blood red dress that sits on her like a second skin. Her blonde hair is hanging in silky waves down her back and she has a satisfied smile on her face. Her blue eyes are shining bright in light of the room and if it wasn’t for the fact that she had her nose in the air, I might have said she looks beautiful. King Phillip is dressed in a black tux that looks like it was made to fit him and it probably was. His dark brown hair is neatly combed and his eyes seem to be taking everything in around him. Unlike his wife, Phillip has a deep scowl on his face and now that I think of it, I haven’t seen him without that scowl on his face. I wonder if he ever smiles. The smell of mountains, snow and fire reaches my nose and I feel the need to breathe it in deep. My wolf is at attention, passing up and down with excitement and I know what is about to happen. As soon as he walks in, his head turns and he looks directly at me. My breath gets knocked out as I take in my mate. He has dark brown hair and even from all the way across the room, I can see that he has hazel eyes that are bright and full of humor and excitement. His nose is straight and his lips are full. He has a strong jaw with a five o’clock shadow. His body is muscular but lean and I can’t help but take in every inch of it, wondering how it will look without the black tux he is wearing. I move my eyes slowly back up to his and see that he is smirking at me. He knows I have been taking him in and he like that I am staring. It takes me a minute to realize who he is. He is Alexander Corbin, prince of the dragons and hanging onto his arm is another woman.
