Episode Two

"Is this to be left behind too?" she asked, her voice quivering with vulnerability. Lance looked at the phone's screen, and what he saw there shattered the fragile truce that had settled between them. On the screen, he saw a picture of himself with a girl on his lap, the two of them locked in an intimate kiss. He paled visibly, the shock evident on his face, and his silence spoke volumes. "Where did you get this, Daisy?" Lance finally asked, his tone laced with anger and a hint of apprehension. "Let me guess. Ethan? George? Or was it Christian?" he snarled. Daisy, however, shook her head, a deep well of sadness in her eyes. "It doesn't matter where I got it," she replied with a heavy heart. "What matters is that we're supposed to marry in two days, Lance. I thought we were building a future together, but you…you have nothing better to do than to cheat on me?" Lance's anger was quickly replaced by a pleading desperation as he realized the gravity of the situation. "Daisy, I didn't cheat," he protested, his voice quivering with sincerity. "I was drunk at my bachelor party, and yeah, that girl was hitting on me, but I didn't let anything happen. I swear." Tears welled up in Daisy's eyes, her heart heavy with the emotions that coursed through her. She shook her head, her voice trembling as she responded: "I want to believe you, Lance. I really do. But this… I don't know if I can ever trust you again. I don't even know if I still want to marry you." Lance's eyes searched Daisy's for a sign of understanding, but his fiancé's expression remained clouded by doubt and pain. "Are you serious?" He hissed, his angry voice tinged with fear. Daisy met Lance's gaze, her eyes filled with a deep sadness. "I just…I just don't know anymore, Lance," she replied, her voice a whisper. Lance's frustration and anger reached a boiling point. His face flushed with fury, and his voice shook with something that scared Daisy. Hatred. "You know what, Daisy? I can't believe you're letting your friends get to you like this. They've always wanted this, to come between us, and it looks like they finally won!" His outburst echoed through the loft, a harsh reminder of the tensions that had plagued their relationship. In his seething frustration, Lance could not contain his emotions any longer. He reached for an object he had been holding, a framed picture that held cherished memories, and with a violent gesture, he hurled it against the wall. The picture fell to the floor, shattering into pieces, the shards scattering like the fragments of their love. As Daisy stared at the shattered picture, the shards of their once-cherished memories, a profound sense of pain welled up within her. With a heavy heart and tears stinging her eyes, Daisy turned away from the wreckage, knowing she needed to get out of there before she did something that they would both regret. The cries of regret filled the air as she heard Lance yell her name, but it only fueled her need to escape. Without looking back, Daisy grabbed her jacket, her heart heavy with despair, and ran out of the loft. * The world outside was a chaotic blur, mirroring the turmoil that raged within her. Daisy’s footsteps echoed her need for distance, a desperate attempt to find solace away from the shattered reality and a pain so deep she could not put into words. Daisy walked aimlessly through the streets of Chicago, her emotions in turmoil. The city that had once been a backdrop for their love was now a vast and unfamiliar place, reflecting the uncertainty that had overtaken their relationship. The omega eventually found herself at an unknown river near their home together, a place that had been a witness to countless moments of love and connection between her and Lance. Close to the club where they met, the place where they had their first date, first kiss. Daisy walked along the riverbank and settled on a bench, hot tears staining her cheeks. Her love for Lance was deep and unwavering, and the thought of losing him was unbearable. Daisy sat in solitude, the city's lights dancing on the river's surface, mirroring the complexity of her emotions. She truly wanted to believe in their love, to find a way to overcome the pain and mistrust that had torn them apart. But the weight of doubt and betrayal had left her lost and unsure, and she did not know where to turn or what to believe anymore. Lost in the depths of his thoughts, Daisy's phone suddenly rang, breaking through the heavy silence of the night. For a fleeting moment, she thought it might be Lance, trying to reach out and find her, to somehow bridge the divide that had grown between them. Her heart raced with a mix of hope and trepidation as he glanced at the caller ID, but it was not Lance. The name "Christian" lit up the screen, and Daisy's confusion deepened. She hesitated for a moment, debating whether to answer or let it go to voicemail. Christian had been her best friend for years, the one who had been a constant source of support but since Lance had won Daisy's heart their friendship had not been the same as before. With a sigh, Daisy answered the call, her voice filled with a mix of sadness and exhaustion. "Christian, hi," she greeted her friend, her tone heavy with the weight of the evening's events. "Daisy, I was just thinking about the wedding preparations. How's everything going? Are you excited?" Daisy, taking a deep breath, decided to share a bit of good news amid the turmoil. "I picked up my dress this morning, and I've been on a call with the bakery. Everything looks great… yeah, everything's great." Christian's voice held a mix of excitement and support. "That's fantastic to hear, Daisy! I'm glad things are coming together smoothly," the other omega said, but added after a moment of silence. "Daisy, is everything okay? Is there something you want to talk about?" Daisy hesitated. She had always been aware of Christian's dislike of Lance, and the idea of revealing the troubles in her relationship made her apprehensive. But then, Daisy replied, struggling to hold back tears,"I'm at the river near our place, Christian. I don't… I don't know what to do anymore." Christian's voice held concern, but also curiosity. "Are you alright? What's going on?" "We… I had a fight with Lance earlier tonight." Daisy heard her friend take a hissing breath. "Did he hurt you?" Daisy's eyes widened. "What? No! Of course not!" "Daisy, you know I've never been his biggest fan," Christian admitted. "Maybe this fight is a sign, a chance for you to reconsider if this is the right path for you. You deserve to be with someone who truly makes you happy." Daisy's heart ached with the weight of her friend's words, her thoughts racing. While she had been torn by her own doubts and fears, Christian's perspective added another layer of complexity to the situation, a new clarity. Despite the doubts and uncertainties surrounding her relationship with Lance, Daisy could not deny her true feelings. "Christian, you may not like him, but Lance makes me happy. He… he's everything," the omega insisted. "He makes me happy." "Daisy, I'm just worried, okay? You and Lance have only known each other for a few months, and now you're getting married. Do you really know him? What if he's after your money? What if you get hurt in the end?" Daisy's heart ached at Christian's words, knowing that her friend's concerns were rooted in genuine care and affection. She understood the validity of these questions, and it had crossed her mind as well. Maybe too often. "He's not like that," Daisy whispered. "He loves me." Daisy took a deep breath and wiped the tears from her face. "Christian, I need to go home, let us talk tomorrow, or are you maybe free for lunch? There’s still some wedding stuff you need to help me with." "Sure, let's do that." The weight of their conversation still hung in the air as Daisy ended the call and stood up, ready to confront the issues that had driven a wedge between her and Lance.
