Unpleasant Surprise

I walk into the board office to meet 4 people staring at me,it was 5 but a chair was empty.

Pls sit,Nora spoke up. I’m guessing you know me already so these are Hector,Athena and Elena,Alexander went to get some coffee.

Hello folks,he bolts in. So,let’s begin?

So Mr Andrey,Elena starts.you were seen fighting in the hallway,and it appears you left Gilbert in a very critical condition.

Huh,Gilbert,Ares mimicked

Wait what do you mean by that? I asked.

“He is in the intensive care unit right now.” Nora interrupts.”What were you thinking?”

“He was hurting the gods other guy!!!.” I said harshly.

“Watch your tone young man,Alex cuts in.You have caused a scene and exhibited rude behavior,you’re herebya assigned to after school cleanup duty for a week.

“What!!!!”

“You may leave now.”

“This is so unfair.”I say walking out.

As I walk out of the officer,the group run towards me worry on their faces.

“How’d it go?” Adonis asked concerned.

“Hope you’re okay?” Sofia cuts in.

“Don’t worry guys I’m fine,c’mon let’s go.”

“So,care to tell us what really happened?”Tiffany asked in a somewhat hushed tone.

“Well,I got cleanup duty gfarther school,it’s just....It’s weird but I couldn’t just watch him push the guy around.”

“I understand Drey,maybe you could’ve talked to him,cos,all they see was you swinging first.” She points out.

Realizing, “I.....I’ve suffered all my life,so seeing people hurt kinda hurts me too.”

“What do you mean..Suffered all your life?”

“Well,I was.” Ares instantly snaps at me......”it..it’s complicated.”

“You could tell me,I’ll t understand.”

“Never mind”

“Ok,if you insist.”

“Uhh,guys I gotta go takes gcare of chores

“Sure you’re okay.”Sofia asked concerned.

“Yeah,see y’all later.”

I walk away, and enter Janitors closet,took a mop and resume duty.

So what was that,Ares interrogates.

What was what,I asked faking ignorance.

Don’t try to play smart Andrey,you almost told her about yourself.

You can’t let your down like that,He snaps. I’m sorry, I think Tiffany’s a great girl but let’s not trust so easily.

Wow,now that you pointed it out like that,I think you’re right.

He scoffs,For the 12th time,I’m always right.

“Finally,I’m done with this stupid chore, they’re so insensitive,” I mumble to myself.

Although I feel someone’s watching me, Ares what do you think.

I search my entire mind,but he just seems silent,in a really odd way?

Ares!,Ares!!, I call out scared. Come on,say something!!why are you so quiet?

“Something moves behind me.”

Hello!!, I’m who’s there?,I grr asked turning back. What the hell is going on?

“I feel a cold hand on my shoulder and bolt back,” who’s that?

Sudden darkness engulfs the hallway and I turn to the end see a dark figure surrounded by mist,staring at me.

“Already Creeped out” , who are you??

“Thought you could run huh”, He says with a devious smile.

As he stalked closer,just then I realized who it was...,”Alpha Gareth”. What do you want.

“I’m not here to talk kid,” but you’re coming with me.

He said while charging at me.

As I scream,I realized everything was bright and normal again,no mist,no Gareth and a few people were staring at me.

“Whoa,it was another one,maybe I’m just tired,let me get some rest

I return to the janitors closet to keep the mop,and sit down for a minute or two.”What’s the matter?” Ares asked.

“Well there you are,why were you so silent?”

“Silent I was trying to talk to you but you weren’t responding.” He said slightly annoyed.

“Oh,t..this is bad.” I stuttered.

“What do you mean?”

“I just saw Alpha Gareth.”

“Wait,what?” Or maybe it’s another one of those visions again.

“I think,but maybe I should call Homer.”

Y..Yeah,but maybe we should head home first,you know I’m kinda hungry.”

“Right,All this clean up’s got me hungry.” I could feel him sigh in relief.

I push open the door and turn to lock it. “Well we’ll,if it isn’t wolf boy.”

“Wait,why does that voice sound so familiar?” I ask myself as I turn to the direction of the voice, it’s Gilbert,and his okay.

“What do you want this time?” I asked annoyed.

“You really should learn to mind your own business,you know.” He replied.

“Well maybe I would if you learn to stop bullying people.” I countered feel even more anger.

He laughs. “Do you even know who I am ?”

“Well I think your momma would be in a better position to answer that.” I said smirking to the side.

He frowns and lands a heavy punch on my face.”You really should be preparing for tomorrow’s class.” I say coughing as he shoves me into the door.

I try to get up,but not fast enough before his friends jump me and start stepping and kicking me.

I could feel the concussion of my head pounding and my ribs cracking,I felt the adrenaline again but it was to far to reach out,before I surrendered and laid there weak.

“C’mon guys let’s go,that’ll teach him.” He said as they ran off.

Chapter 12: Unpleasant Surprises



“Ahhhh!! My head still hurts,”I seem to regain consciousness and start to open my eyes slightly.As I struggle with the memory of the beaten I had just received,I open my eyes softly to the view of a calm night sky with bright stars and a soft crackling fire,in a where seems to be a wide field with soft and low cut grasses.

Sitting next to the fire was the figure of a somewhat dark skinned girl,and she appears to be sewing what looks like a leather breastplate,one of those types some soldiers wore. Who is she?,a soldier,a rough,I just couldn’t tell.

“Oh,you’re awake.”She says as she drops the leather and walks up to me. She was beautiful,she

had warm hazel eyes,black long French braids and a cute nose.

“Who are you.” I asked.

“I’m Anna,you slept for hours.” She says as I turn to stretch.

As I turned back,I was now in a hospital ward,already healed with the girl staring at me.

“Hey,are you alright? Andrey,earth to Andrey.” She says waving her hand in my face making me snap back to reality.

“What,i, was in a field just now.” I say looking around.

“Uh,not sure,what you’re talking about but you were rushed in here later yesterday,seemed you were involved in a huge fight.”?

“Oh,I’m gonna miss class.” I say in realization as I check the time. “7:45Am,oh crap.”I say jumping off the bed. “Thanks Anna,I’ll see you later.”

“Bye.” Her voice fades as run passed the hallway in full speed,got to my room which was neat and tidy,seemed the boys had already gone to class so I took a quick bath and put on a blue hoodie,some black shorts,my usual white socks and a pair of white sneakers,and a bag pack with some extra clothes just Incase.

Running through the hallway I could hear Adriana’s voice right before I bust in. Eyes locked in,tension was thick,could literally feel the burns of their stares as they all focused on me without distraction.

Good Lord,I just wish the floors would open up it’s wide mouth and swallow me with no remorse. I look at my phone screen,”it’s 8:13.” Well what a good way to start the day huh”

“Good morning Andrey.” She greeted.you’re late,but I’ll pardon. Now locate you group and take your seat.

I walk hastily towards Tiffany and the boys.”Where were you.” Apollo asked as I turned to sit down.

“Huh.” I asked clueless. We waited for you yesterday but you never showed up,then we got word that you were at the schools hospital,and went there this morning but you weren’t there.”

“I’m sorry.” I apologized.

“Well,what happened?” They ask in unison.

“I was jumped by Gilbert and his goons yesterday.”

“Who’s Gilbert and what goons?” Adonis asked.

“The guy I beat up yesterday.”

“Oh my God,but are you ok?” Tiffany asked concerned.

“Yeah,I healed and woke up this morning.”

“Guess that must’ve been a really deep sleep huh.” Adonis teased.

“Yeah,yeah.” Very funny.

“But why’d he attack you?” Tiffany asked.

I dunno,but I think it has something to do with the last fight.

“He healed fast tho,what is he,a wolf?” Apollo asked.

“I don’t think so,well he did smell like one.” I answered.

“Hello students.” Mr Hector’s voice echoed. Now as I told you all yesterday,we shall start real training today so brace yourselves as you will watch and fight each other.”

“You might as well know that this is a basic training process that will prepare you for battles against all creatures there will be two matches today.

“Now the first fight will be between the Orange team and the Green team.”Watch and learn from both your mistakes and that of your opponents.” He concluded walking down the podium.

“May the fight begin!!! A voice echoed.

The Orange team had chosen a tough looking tall boy with blonde hair. While the Green team selected a rather thin girl,average in height and had flaming red long and straightened hair.she seems cute and innocent though.

The blonde boy seems really confident as he charges at the girl throwing a few punches and staggers to the right as the girl moves away

effortlessly. She grabs his hand and snaps his elbow in a really wrong direction,and lets go of the boy who seems to hide his severe pain as he instantly reforms his arm and lands a bone crushing kick to the girls left rib.

She staggers and falls,looking up to see a large griffin diving towards her. He lands on her piercing his large and r claws into he shoulders making the girl scream as she seems to have more endurance,pulling out of his grip and sidestepping him with full force. She stands opposite the griffin boy who gathers momentum and charges at the girl who within seconds is now a large flame skinned tiger with pitch black stripes.

She waits for him as he jumps into the air diving down at her and reaches arm length,then instantly grabbed his neck and back right leg leaving him paralyzed in mid air struggling for breath as she strangles him with her right hand.

After gaining the desired strength she turns backwards now facing a pillar and smashes his spine into it and leaving a large crack in the pillar.

Then she rushes to him and traps his neck in her arm and her knee on his back making him tap out and emerging the winner.

The crowd goes wild and her team embraces her. “She seems to be the best on the team.” I say to Apollo who nods in confirmation as Mr Hector takes the podium to congratulate her and announce the team for the next match.

“And the Second and final match for today will be between the Blue team and the Red team.” He says leaving the podium.
