Caroline suddenly looked up, tears brimming in her eyes. "We're supposed to go to another city for school together. Don't you care about that at all?"
Caleb's gaze flickered for just a moment, but his voice stayed firm. "I'll be back before classes start."
His parents raised no objections.
After a pause, his mother added quietly, "Talk to Eleanor properly. Respect whatever choice she makes."
My mother's expression soured. She spoke with visible displeasure. "I don't know if someone's been filling Eleanor's head with nonsense, but she's completely out of control now."
Mrs. Foster let out a light snort, her face full of contempt. "We raised her for over a decade, through every holiday, every season, and she still picked up the rebellious traits of her inferior bloodline in the end."
