Elena stared at Alia’s back as she walked with a slight smile gracing her lips. She couldn’t believe that she now had a daughter. The feeling was palpable yet rejuvenating. She had already started dressing her up. Like she would her own daughter if she had one.
Seeing Alia suddenly stop in her tracks, her smile grew wider. Elena thought that she had taken pity on her and was feeling guilty for leaving her all alone.
She had wanted to tell her personal maid to assure Alia she shouldn’t worry about her. She had wanted to tell her that she would be fine. In seconds, the smile on her face disappeared when she saw her kneeling to on the ground, tightly covering her ears with her hands.
“Alia…” Elena whispered as she quickly stood up, causing the chair to tip over.
She had already walked around the table when her personal maid, Marie, stood in her way. Before she could say anything. Marie scrambled to explain her actions. “Luna, let me go and check on her first. We wouldn’t want to speed up your already deteriorating health.”
Elena gave her a hard glare when Marie added, “You need not to worry Luna. I know to take excellent care of her, I promise.”
Elena didn’t want to stand idly. Watching her daughter writhe like a person in great pain. She could also not get too anxious or worked up due to her own health. She kept looking over Marie’s shoulder with urgency before relenting.
Allowing Marie to go take a look at Alia while she sat at the tip of her own chair like it was on fire. Marie ran towards Alia and knelt in-front of her body, which had a slight spasm now and then. The warriors who were supposed to escort her in didn’t know what to do seeing the scene before them. When they saw Marie, it was like seeing their saviour.
Alia kept muttering something under her breath as beads of sweat covered her now pale face. Marie couldn’t hear her clearly and went closer, putting her ear close to Alia’s lips.
“What is it, Miss?” she tried to listen to Alia’s incoherent words but couldn’t hear her clearly. Since she was an omega, her hearing wasn’t as sharp as higher ranked wolves. Though it was slightly better than humans, they deemed it useless in their world. But she braced herself and listened attentively to this time. When a thick, godlike voice erupted from Alia’s throat.
“RUN!”
The firm command swept over her and the warriors. Before they knew it, they had already turned to run. Seeing Marie running towards her with wide eyes, Elena couldn’t take it no more.
Immediately, she ran in Alia’s direction.
“No! Luna, turn back!” Marie shouted, but Elena didn’t listen and tried running past her. Marie quickly caught and tackled her down just in time for a deafening scream to be heard. Waves of energy passed by them, one after the other. Even though the waves were not as strong and deadly as they were near Alia. They were still too strong for an omega, which caused blood to come out of Marie’s eyes, ears, nose and mouth.
Seeing this, Elena covered her mouth in shock for a while. Coming back to her senses, she swapped their positions.
She was now on top of her in order for her to protect Marie from the shockwaves. Like a luna, it was an instinctive gesture Elena had no control of.
Turning to see what was going on. Elena gasped in shock at seeing the smoky halo around the area Alia was lying on.
The plants and grass that came in contact with the energy were withering so fast. It was like Alia was sucking energy from them in order to create the destructive power that was shooting through the sky. She was destroying anything in proximity. It was a horrifying sight to watch.
Brandon pushed the door to his study, abruptly walking in with a slight irritation pestering him. He couldn’t understand how the hell he’d allowed himself to be surprised by Alia. Brandon hated how caught up he was with her just moments ago. He hated how she made his heart change rhythm just by looking at him with those pretty eyes of hers. Why couldn’t she just stay out of sight until this entire ordeal passes? Did she have to be wherever he was? He hated that! He hated her! Well… that’s what he thought.
Sitting in his office chair, still reeling in his thoughts. An awful scream dragged him out of his thoughts as goosebumps covered every inch of his body. The scream caused Brandon to shoot forward, alarm bells going off in his head. He hurried to the floor to ceiling window of his office and stared down at the garden.
Trying to find the source of that scream. He instantly spotted a petite figure laying in the middle of the garden emitting the most powerful source of energy he had ever felt. It rippled through the air, burning anyone standing 10 to 15 feet away from it. It looked like these most pissed off blue fire any species could ever withstand.
The only difference was that… it wasn’t fire at all!
Without wasting time, Brandon was right next to Alia in a nick of time, unlike the unlucky few that turned to ashes the moment they got into contact with Alia’s energy. Brandon was able to withstand its deafening pressure. Putting his hands on Alia’s chest, right on top of the energy. Brandon felt his hands scraping off like he had been burnt with acid. He gritted his teeth as he tried absorbing as much energy as he could. Yet it seemed like he had angered the gods.
The energy started to become unbearably stronger than it already was.
It was also becoming harder to keep up as his elixir filled up while his hands were now halfway burnt. His bones were becoming apparent, which was becoming dangerous. If his flesh burns through, leaving him to see his bones–He won’t be able to heal himself back. His blood vessels would have been toast. While his nervous system could shut down or go into shock. Leaving him with nothing but a bony hand.
“s**t!” Brandon cursed out when he saw was happening to his hands. He started panicking, trying to think of other ways to stop Alia from destroying everything.
He looked at her as she quietly lay there with her eyes open. She looked like a weapon ready to be used. A weapon of destruction. With nothing he could do and panic engulfing his very being.
Brandon smashed his lips against Alia’s. He didn’t really fathom what he was doing. But with his lips feeling Alia’s tender ones.
He couldn’t hold up anymore. He slipped his fingers through her smooth hair. Lightly fisting a handful of it as he lifted her head a little off the ground, deepening the kiss in the process. His last string of sanity had snapped as he sucked and nibbled on her lips. Like they were the only meal he would have all his life.
He hadn’t realised that he had successfully neutralized Alia’s now halfway active powers. A few moments later, she gasped as she came back into consciousness. This gave Brandon a chance to invade her mouth, sticking his tongue into it. Possessively claiming her lips like they were meant to be devoured only by him. Weak, Alia panicked and tried fighting him off, but he seized her hands. She couldn’t open her eyes yet, struggling to wriggle her body out of his hold.
A cool forestry yet musky scent invaded her senses, causing her tensed body to relax under Brandon. Allowing him to continue devouring her lips as she kissed him back with almost the same intensity he was kissing her. A groan of approval escaped his lips as she responded, causing Alia’s body to heat up. She liked it so much that her arousal started leaking.
“Brandon…” The smell of Alia’s arousal almost drove him insane when a voice snapped him out of it. Breaking the kiss, he looked at Alia’s flushed face with misty, yet tender, eyes. When the mist cleared, his gaze hardened as the look of hatred Alia was too familiar with replaced his lustful one. Breaking his gaze from her, he looked towards the source of the voice and found his mother’s questioning gaze. He cursed inside because he didn’t want anyone to find out about this.
He had lied to his parents about it, about him possibly being the cursed protector in the legends that bound him to Alia. He knew that his parents would try every trick in order to lift the curse. In order for him to find happiness and lead his pack with his Luna. But he knew that it was impossible to lift it without the missing scroll. He had searched heaven and earth for it, and almost two decades later, there was still nothing.
He hadn’t noticed Alia blacking out and picked her up. He headed into the house, trying his best to avoid his mother’s questioning gaze. He needed a moment before facing a barrage of his parents’ questions and reprimands.
Gently, he lay her onto her bed, covered her with the quilt while staring at her peacefully sleeping face. It was still flushed from their kiss earlier. Her lips were now swollen and perked like a child who had been wronged. Putting his hands on either side of her, he lowered his head slowly.
He couldn’t take how her lips were teasing him. Begging him to demolish them. Gently, Brandon kissed Alia, tasting her sweet-tender lips. Not getting enough of them, he deepened the kiss. Desperately sucking on them like they were his lifeline. Alia’s eyelashes trembled as she once more relished in the familiar scent. His scent was like her tension reliever as she sighed into the kiss. Brandon took this opportunity to thrust his tongue into her slightly parted mouth. Possessively marking every inch of her perfect mouth. It was as if he wanted to merge his body with hers, devouring her like his favourite meal.
After a while, Brandon finally bit her lower lip before letting her off. Her breathing was erratic, yet she couldn’t open her eyes. Instead, she frowned before pouting her lips like a child being wronged. Seeing her action, Brandon chuckled while running his thumb over her swollen bottom lip. The melodious sound made Alia’s heart skip a beat. Her body had shut down in order for it to recharge.
But she could still hear Brandon’s beautiful baritone filled with laughter. She yearned to hear it everyday. But she knew that things were not that simple. The only thing she could do was live in the moment.
