Just as she was preparing herself for a painful ending, the suppressive atmosphere suddenly disappeared.
Rendering her able to breathe again. Exhausted from trying to fight her son's aura, Elena mentally sighed taking a minute to pull herself together without alerting her son. He had been trying to control himself ever since her mother's statement provoked chaos.
He knew that he was about to get out of control when chaos stood on all fours with his face contorted into a very ugly frown. Brandon knew that he had to calm him down. Chaos was afraid of his mother's tricks but he never took a sarcastic threat that included his mate lying down. Brandon found that out the first night he kept watch over her which was the same night he found out she was his destined mate. He didn't want to believe it but everything that had happened pointed towards it. He had tried walking out on her that night. He accidentally overheard some warriors planning to take her away from him, using her to their satisfaction before selling her off through the night market a few days later.
All hell broke loose and they're remaining were found scattered across the pack borders early the next morning. He didn't know how he did it but he knew that he had done it and it didn't bother him the slightest.
Already leaning onto the his desk he gestured for his mother to take a seat.
“Please…” his guilt filled tone pleading with her. Silence stretched out for a few minutes before heels clunked onto the wooden floor as she walked towards the chair right next to him. She stretched her hand to pull out the chair when a hand shot out of nowhere, startling her as it caught her wrist. Looking up at her son, her heart skipped a beat seeing her son's frown turn into surprise and disbelief.
Oh no!
“I did this.” His voice cracked a little at the sight of his mother's pale face and bleeding nose. His heart constricted as he stared at the blood trickling down his mother's nose. Slowly yet carefully, he checked for any other injuries which he found none of. Seeing no other injuries, Brandon let her go and urged her to take a seat.
Sigh!
Just as she took a long relieved sigh the door to Brandon's study broke open with his father charging in like a provoked bull. His gaze landed on his mate fuelling his raging anger. Elena tirelessly closed her eyes with a slight frown while Brandon's words got stuck in his throat as he forced himself to swallow them back down. Alec's eyes glowed a fiery red as they watched his anger consume him.
Like father, like son.
Elena thought. With the current situation, Brandon did not dare make any sudden nor rash moves as he cautiously called out to his father.
“Father..” Alec's gaze landed on him, the perpetrator as his wolf released a low grunt. He looked back at his mate who understood what he meant by it but she wasn't having it. She wasn't going to let him kill their son.
“Sybil, give Alec his control back.” Elena spoke after a few moments. She knew of the pending disaster that's going to occur if she quickly doesn't pacify him. Sybil looked at Elena for a while before pointing his finger at Brandon.
“He…hurt…mate!” With each word, his claws protruded as he menacingly spat out these three words.
“Look…” Elena whipped her nose with the handkerchief produced to her by Brandon before Alec, no… Sybil. Before Sybil barged in earlier on.
“…see! I'm fine!” she tried to sound as convincing as possible while her insides were burning. “Now let Alec t-” before she could finish, Sybil was already in the air, lunging at Brandon. A gasp escaped Elena as the rest of her words got caught in her throat like a huge rock stuck in her airway.
“YOU HURT MATE, YOU DIE!!” Sybil roared as he leapt into the air with his sharp murderous gaze directly onto Brandon. Seeing this, Elena scrambled towards the wide eyed Brandon trying to intercept Sybil's attack. But realised she was a step too late and could only watch Sybil throw his palm with his claws protruding from his fingers at Brandon.
She shrilled in horror.
“Sybil, No!!”
