Landon's P.O.V
I opened the door of my car for Evelyn and she entered inside without uttering a word. She was very quiet, in deep thought. Her expression was neutral, not letting me to decipher her mood. I walked round the car, putting back on my black sunglasses and slipped in the car. Once inside, I straightened my suit and dusted away some dirty particles that were lying comfortably on my pant and coat. Evelyn gave me a shocked look. Okay I knew I was a neat freak, so what ? I started the engine and drove away.
During the ride also Evelyn was keeping quiet. What was she thinking ? She was not being her normal self. Was she plotting something against me again ? Was she up to something ? I wondered if she has read the contract ? But I bet she had enough time to do that since she had pass out last night so easily. It would be pointless now to make her rush over the contract papers as she would have more than enough time to go over it. In fact, she would have a whole year to do that. Taking Evelyn to the auction was the right thing to do. There, I would be able to make an official statement about our wedding in front of the media and then she would have no chances of backing off. I didn't care about what will happen to her job, her career or her damn family in Kansas after this wedding. All I cared was about making my own name in the business and marketing world. I was a selfish person. That I already knew but to what extent was what Evelyn would know very soon.
"Thanks for taking me to my apartment last night." uttered Evelyn, looking at the window on her side.
I simply nodded. I didn't want to get in any conversation with her yet because I knew that this conversation would soon lead to a dispute and I didn't want her to be in a foul mood when we would be in the ceremony, just not to attract skeptic glances.
"You could have woke me up. Why didn't you ?" She queried, looking at me. Clearly, she was trying to make a conversation but she was being a little hesitant.
"I tried to but you didn't want to be woke up." With that last reply we stayed silent for sometime but Evelyn soon broke the silence again. She huffed and her expressions became fierce. Her tone heightened, one thing that I didn't appreciate very much and that irritated the hell out of me.
"When exactly are you planning to tell where we are going, Mr Mckendrick ? I'm beginning to worry." She took a pause before she continued. "And why were you so rude with Bart ? Do you always need to act like an ill mannered and disrespectful man? Bart was just being so friendly with you and you... You embarrassed in front of everyone. What's wrong with you ?" She expressed frustratingly, looking accusingly at me. Her green eyes had become a darker shade. Green fire was blazing in her eyes. Her forehead had form a frown. Milliseconds later she asked " Are you going to answer me ? "
"Did you give me time to reply you ? You just keep on blabbering nonstop, how do you expect me to answer all of your f*****g annoying questions ? " I fired back, almost passing past a red traffic light on the road. Maybe I should have been more careful with my choice of words. I just literally gave her an invitation to get into an argument with me. I stopped the car and waited for the green light to come back. Evelyn shook her head in frustration and sighed. She closed her eyes trying to calm herself before she exploded like a volcano.
"Fine then. I give you time, answer me." She swallowed.
"Clarify please. Which question I should answer first ?"
"Where are we going ?"
"To the auction of the Burgundy Palace."
"Why are we going there ?"
"You will know very soon. Now, are you done with your interrogation ?"
"No. Why were you such a brat with Bart ?"
"That's my normal behavior. I can't do anything about that."
"I assume you don't behave like that with clients, do you ? You need to learn to treat people with respect or talk to them without making them feel like trash at least."
"Thanks for the advice that went in my ear and left from the other ear. I appreciate it very much."
She rolled her eyes and directed her gaze towards the outside and lowered the side window. A gust of wind found its way inside.
Minutes later, Evelyn started playing with her fingers on her lap. Conceivably, she was nervous, that was why she must be playing with her fingers. "Why isn't your assistant or PA with you ? Shouldn't they be by your side at the auction ? interrogated Evelyn with her head down, still playing with her slender fingers. She was annoying me with her fingers now. I remembered that my ex girlfriends used to do that a lot. But they normally did that whenever they wanted to ask something or when they wanted me to buy them something as gift. Was it the same with Evelyn ? Did she want something ? Why did I care if she wanted something ? She must be trying to get my attention. Manipulating people must be so easy for her since that was what models did to earn lavishing lifestyles from wealthy businessmen. I had to be more careful around her if I wanted to have the upper hand.
"My assistant has taken a half day to take her husband out for an appointment with a doctor. Luckily, she left me with all the important documents that I will be needing at the auction." She was still playing with her fingers nervously, this was getting too irritating. I did't like it. "You can have a look of the documents if you want to." I rambled without thinking to keep her fingers doing something less irritating. She took the file and began flipping over some pages, not really concentrating on the contents, which was a good thing 'cause I didn't like it when other people get to see what I was going to do or achieve in some time.

Evelyn's P.O.V
I hated Landon. I hated him so much. I wondered what he was reserving for me at the auction. But what did an auction has to do with us ? Landon was becoming so unpredictable day by day. Just like you could not predict which radioactive element will react first, you could not predict what would be Landon's next step. That was the reason why I was freaking out. I didn't know what would happen at the auction. All I knew was that it would be bad. Bad for me. His precious documents were still in my hand but I couldn't concentrate on anything even though my eyes on the papers. I was feeling a bit nauseating and my tummy was doing lots of somersaults inside as I remembered that I didn't have lunch yet.
The car slowed down in front of a big white gate. Landon retrieved a well decorated card in color of burgundy out of nowhere and gave it to the security men. They took a glance at the card, then returned Landon back the card before giving him a nod. The big white gate opened and Landon drove carefully inside. In front of us stood a gigantic palace. I gasped at the magnificent beauty of the palace. It was much more beautiful than I remembered. The palace was so beautiful and vibrant. Was Landon really going to buy this palace ?
"Come with me." I was so mesmerized by what I saw that I didn't notice Landon shutting down the engine nor getting out of the car. He was holding door open for me and reaching out for my hand. I put my hand in his and got out, Landon's hand immediately made its way around my waist. I wanted to protest but I gave up. I decided to just go with the flow and see what Landon would do. He gave the keys of his car to a valet.
We climbed the stairs to the castle, attracting the attention of photographers, reporters and some other businessmen like Landon, all dressed in suits. I notice a group of elite businessmen's wives ogling at Landon and sending thousands of daggers in their glare at me. I ignored them and grabbed Landon's arm subconsciously. He turned to me and I instantly realized it. I quickly muttered a 'sorry' at him and he placed his other hand on mine before I tried to remove my hand off him. Landon took sometime to answer the questions of the reporters. I tried to smile almost all time at them and then came the question I was expecting the most.
"Are you and Mr Landon Mckendrick in a relationship ? " asked a female reporter in a squeaky voice.
Landon squeezed my hand on his arm, stopping me from answering the question. "Yes we're in a relationship. In fact, we will be getting married very soon." He announced in front of the press. I looked at him wide eyed at him as my heartbeat accelerated. What's wrong with him ? How can he make such announcement in front of the media ? The crowd of photographers and reporters gasped and remained silent for a moment before throwing more questions at us. Damn you, Landon !
"Mr Mckendrick ! When is the wedding ? What happened to your latest girlfriend Kyra Karedes ? Mr Mckendrick , did you ditch Miss Kiara Karedes, because Miss Evelyn is a supermodel and more beautiful than her ? How did you meet ? Through a common friend ? Since when have you been together ? Miss Nolan, why are so quiet ? Please answer our questions ! Mr Mckendrick ___ " The crowd erupted with more and more disgusting and baseless questions. All kinds of questions kept flowing out of their mouths without filter. This was happening all because of Landon's stupid decision of making such announcement before the press. I tried to keep on a neutral expression on my face but I didn't know how much time it would last. Before I could say anything to the media, Landon continued to throw some more lies at the famishing reporters.
"We'll give you all details about it later. Now, I think we should proceed inside the castle for the ceremony to start. Come Evelyn. " He snaked his hand around my waist once again and urged me to walk inside. I gave him a death glare once we were inside. Anger was boiling inside of me. I could feel that we were going to have a very heated conversation but not now because I din't want to create a scandal, especially not in front the media. The air was a bit heavy and my lungs were already complaining for some fresh air. The women who were ogling at Landon earlier were still staring at me with maximum hate and disgust in their eyes. The need for some fresh grew even more. I needed some space. I was feeling more nauseated now. Landon made me have a seat beside him. He seemed to be reviewing the documents in his hands.
"Landon, I need some air. I'm going outside. " I whispered to Landon.
He took a few seconds to think before answering. "Okay but be quick. And don't try any smartness." He sent me a last glare as I got up as quickly as possible and walked out the palace, into the large garden that was situated in front the castle.
Behind me, I heard a male voice. "Nice to see you again, Evelyn."
