3- INJURED MATE

Next day of school.I got ready for the day finishing my morning routine including a run for my wolf. I get dressed in a blue tee and smoky black jeans with a little grey mixed in it.I descended the stairs to meet my parents in the kitchen. "Morning, mum. Dad." I said taking a seat on the dining table near my dad. "Good morning." Both of them greeted me cheerfully as mum served us some meat. Of course, we eat meat most of the times. Our wolves craves it.After the tempting breakfast, I made my way out of the pack house. Now, of course, our pack house is in between the woods and so we will change to cross it and then head to school and so we did exactly that and that's our daily routine.I met with Levi, Grace, some other pack members and my gamma or head warrior, Caleb out of the school gates. "Hey, babe!" Grace greeted me with a small peck."Hey!" I said back as we entwined our fingers and moved inside the school building. And that's when the best scent of the best scents hit my nostrils.I sniffed the air in as I followed the vanilla scent. Grace is looking at me with a confused look but following me anyways. My wolf, Storm, is purring in my mind as he is really excited after inhaling the scent."Follow it!" Storm said in my mind and a thought suddenly crossed my mind. Should I take Grace with me or someone else? I never inhaled this scent before and I am certain that it's a human who is new in school."Leave Grace here. I don't wanna take her." my wolf said suddenly. Well, he never liked Grace. We had so many fights before about the same topic. I mean, he liked her before when we were just best friends but since I decided to mate with her in a year, he hated her. Storm and I didn't had a playful conversation since then like we used to have before. He was either reminding me of my mistakes, scolding me or discussing the pack matters and that's it.He always tells me to leave Grace saying that she is no good for us but I always shut him up. But this time, I feel like I should listen to him."Hey, Kai!" said Levi as he came to me and we did our little bro hug. That's good. I'll take him. "Umm...Grace, I want to talk to Levi about something so...can you please spare us a minute?" I asked raising a brow, keeping my voice calm.She is blowing at her nails and said, "Yeah. I am heading to class." she said with a bored expression and left. "What's up, bro. What do you wanna talk about?" Levi asked casually raising his brows."Well, you smell that?" I asked him and he creases his brows. He sniffed a little and asked, "Smell what? Everything is same." he shrugged. "No, everything is not same. I am inhaling this amazing scent of a human. Storm is purring in my mind and said to follow it." I said with a confused look."Well, then, if he says so. Lead the way." he said and I nodded as I started following the wonderful smell.We reached at a corner of the building. No one was there but with werewolf hearing, we can hear a girl crying. My wolf growled at this but I don't understand why."You heard that?" Levi asked and I nodded before continuing my way to the voice. A girl is sitting at a corner, her head is between her knees as she cries. I inhaled again to make sure that the scent is hers only.As if sensing someone near her, she quickly quieten down and peeked from her thick lashes. "Hey! What happened? Why are you crying?" I asked her softly but she didn't replied. As the school dress code, she is wearing a grey skirt and half sleeve white shirt.I racked my eyes down her body and that's when I noticed them. Bruises. LOT of them. They are practically everywhere. On her arms, her legs, and I can tell that they are all over her beneath her clothes too.As if Levi saw the same thing, he looked at me with confusion. She is hurt. Really hurt. A sudden feeling to protect her made it's way in my heart and I softly put my hand on her shoulder asking her to stop crying and look at me.But she flinched at my touch and crawled more inside the wall if that's even possible. She looked up and I looked into her icy blue eyes which are glassy from the crying.Our eyes locked and that's when it hit me. "MATE! MATE!" Storm started shouting in my mind with happiness. But my mind is not there. I saw a cut on her cheek and it's bleeding. Anger flashed clearly on my face as I see my mate in this state. I want to kill whoever did this to her.As she watched my reaction, she pleaded, "Don't hurt me, please. I mean no harm. Please." Levi and I looked at each other with puzzling look and then back at her but she was gone.Where is she gone? How did she moved so fast?I looked here and there in search of her but found her nowhere. Levi is beyond confused so I decided to help him. "She is my mate." I said to him and he squealed. Yep, like a girl. A wide smile playing on his lips as he hugged me and congratulated me."Thanks, but where is she?" I said in a hurry, looking everywhere for her. "Okay, dude. The state we saw her in, I think you should handle her with patience and love. I think you have to make her believe that she can trust you." Levi said in a serious tone."Of course. I will always treat her with patience and love. And don't forget the respect. And don't worry, I will win her over." I said and made my way to the locker room, getting my books for the first class.I decided to leave her alone for a while and will meet her later. I don't want her to feel like I am stalking her or something so that she don't feel any danger around me. I want her to feel safe around me.Well, now as I already met my mate, my purpose of going to school is coming to an end. We, werewolves, take our positions in the pack when we are 18. I am already 18 and as for rules, I should be ruling the Blue Moon pack now than coming to school. But my mate is a human so I guess I just have to take care of that matter.She can't come with me to the pack house cause she is not a wolf so she, obviously, don't know that our world also exist. First, I have to make her believe that she can trust me and then I will tell her everything.***"I missed you." Grace said hugging me from behind as I leave my first class. Storm growled inside my head telling me to get away from her and that I am cheating on my mate.I quickly pulled away from her and she looked at me with confusion. "What happened? Didn't you missed me?" she asked coming closer to me.I stopped her and said, "I think I am late for my next class." I said in a hurried tone and practically ran away from her. Oh god, how am I gonna deal with her?"Tell her that you find your mate and leave her for good." Stormed chimed in my head in a cold voice and I said. "It's not as easy as you think. You will not understand human emotions." I said and he scowled at me."Do you know her name?" he asked me in a knowing voice referring to our mate. I lowered my eyes on the floor because I don't. "Do you know where is she? Do you know why was she crying? Do you know anything about her?" he asked and I didn't uttered a single word to him because we both know that I don't know anything about her.I am pathetic."Exactly. And here you are, stressing about Grace instead of checking on our mate. Here you are, making your relation with Grace instead of being with our mate and protecting her. Shame on you, human." Storm said shaking his head in disgrace.I guess my wolf is angry at me.
