Chapter 16
After a long night, and a futile attempt at sleep, the breakfast bell finally rings. I stumble into my clothes and follow Dita down to breakfast. With our minds rolling, going over every detail of the last few tests, trying to calculate how they would score us. I woke up with a splitting headache from lack of sleep and several beautiful purple bruises around my throat. It’s silent at our tables. The rest of the hall is a buzz of noise and well-rested after their night spent off base or getting some extra sleep. My class sits quietly; some of us, like me, just pushing our food around our plates, too uneasy to eat. “You have to eat something. I am sure we are going to have more things to do after they assign the teams.”
