Chapter 44
The passes Miessa got for us worked perfectly. We swiped them across the scanners, and the bus doors open with a happy chirp. I climb into the bus and take one of the first seats. Miessa slides in beside me, while Dita and Kathel take the seat behind us. The mercenaries guarding this vehicle stand at the front and rear doors.
The bus is loaded within the colony and the airlocks, but in the mines, there won't be any atmo. Miessa and I shift around slightly.
“You may use the overhead compartments for bags.” One guard says, passing us. I nod and quickly stand, stowing our helmets and small backpacks above until we get the word that we will need them.
