Chapter 32
I hear the ca-bling sound from my tablet, the notification that I have an email incoming. I grab the tablet and quickly swipe up to look at the message. It is another email from Karrie; I smile and tap open the message, scanning through and starting to reply.
“You okay?” Miessa asks from the other side of the couch.
“Hmm? Yeah, I am okay, why?” I ask, glancing up from the tablet as I type out a reply, telling her about training and how we are getting ready for our second test, which will be in about a week.
Miessa sits up from where she has laid down and pulls out her earbuds. “You got all excited about the notification, and then you looked sort of sad.” She says, “sorta like you expected it to be something that it wasn’t.”
