I look at the screen of my watch, the message icon pulses. I scroll over to the notification again.
SHAELIN: Update on Visitation. The family said no. Sorry.
I look up the road to the apartment complex with Sarkus inside.
The cameras around the complex aren't the best. I press myself into the brick wall across the street. There are a series of blind spots. As long as I stay along the wall, I will stay out of the camera's sights. Keeping my eye out for cameras, I turn away from the gatehouse. If the family said that I can't see Sarkus, they most likely told the gatehouse not to let me in. They have done it in the past. I don't know what Melody's problem was with me. I guess I should have seen this as a red flag.
