It was a lake, and I hadn't expected to descend so deep into its depths. Yet, the pull of the water seemed insistent, guiding me downward. Strangely, as I sank, there was no burning sensation in my lungs, no desperate gasping for air. Instead, each descent brought a strange tranquility, a serene escape from the tumult above. The cold embrace of the water soothed my burning skin, the refreshing coolness seeping into my very core. Despite the surreal circumstances, a smile involuntarily played on my lips, and a warmth blossomed within me as if the lake held the key to an elusive sense of belonging.
