Freedom or Funeral

Billy sounded happy to have been contacted by Anna, he agree to meet up with her in two hours' time. Anna fixed her hair, put on her lipstick, powdered her tearful face, and explained to her grandmother she was meeting a friend who could help with the funeral.

" Anna! you can't do this, not while we're mourning." Asanda overheard Anna on the phone with Billy. She knew Billy was always on the other side of the law. " I have to do this, sisi, I promise no funny business, I'll ask for a small loan from Billy, I swear I will do everything in my power to bury our mama Jane."

Anna and Bills at the nearby park. Billy was driving a convertible BMW with brown leather sits. "Baby, baby, you couldn't stay away, could you?" Billy had a manly soft voice. He was tall, light skinned, and had an athletic body that had ladies crawling at his feet.

"Billy, my mum is dead, I need your help. Everybody expects me to come up with the money for the funeral. Please help me, I'll pay you back, I'll get a weekend job in Cape Town and transfer you every pay cheque I receive. " Pleaded Anna

Billy made it clear that he did not expect Anna to pay him back. He loved her before, and he would do anything to make her happy. Anna was pleased to hear that from Billy. She was going to give her mother a befitting burial. Anna started ignoring Sbu's phone calls, she buried her mother with the money she got from Billy, giving her family 50 000 Rand's did not take away the guilt she felt about her mothers death.

A week after the funeral, Anna received an email from STUDENTS ACCOMMODATION MANAGEMENT. She was overdue for her rent . She had to make the deposit in two days' time or clear the room before she would get escorted out. Anna turned to Billy again. Billy made her promise to do anything he told her to do, and he would pay for her accommodation and her sibling's school fees.

Anna was used to living the high life. Her mother had put everything on the line to make sure she had all that she needed. Designer bags, top quality hair, expensive shoes. Her father spoiled her rotten, and Jane made sure that Anna did not feel the void of not having a father.

Billy's terms were that Anna had to be available for him when ever he needed her, he wouldn't mind booking her plane back and forth Capetown, as long as she would remain his, and his alone. Anna started thinking about Sbu. How he always put her first. The boy loved her, even though he did not have the glitz that Anna wanted, but he was emotionally and physically there for her.

Encounter with evil

Anna had settled her accommodation fees with the money Billy gave her. 3 weeks after the burial, she went back to Cape Town, and this she flew. She was no longer going to use the bus (so she believed). She had to face Sbu. She was certain about ending the relationship. She had to break the poor Guy's heart just for money. To maintain her high standard life, someone's heart had to bear the mortgage.

When Anna returned to her room, her flat mate had planned a surprise party for her, it was her birthday, nobody had remembered, her family was still grieving, Sbu had been trying to call her but she never replied his calls since she got to Durban.

"Surprise!!!" Her friends came out of their hiding sports, they all had champagne glasses, Sbu greeted her with a comforting hug and she whispered "I've missed you, happy birthday sweetheart". Anna's break-up plan was ruined. At least for a few hours, she had to put it on hold. It was not the place or time to break the news. She decided to play along. Playing happy couple, pausing for the camera as their friends continued taking pictures. She had no doubt they would be posted on social media. Her only worry was if Bill would see them.

They had a late night, Anna woke up in Sbu's arms, she had a headache, and she needed to make coffee, as she tried to get up, Sbu woke up as well.. " My dear, are you okay ? " asked Sbu. "Yes I'm fine Sbu I need a strong cup of coffee, I have a class at eight o'clock, remember I've got a lot of catching up to do".

" Why don't you take a shower,I'll fix that coffee?".Anna knew Sbu was a Godsend. She did not know how to break up with such a carrying guy, but she had to do it before Billy could find out that she was seeing someone else. He has been arrested for assault more than ones. He landed one of the guys on a wheelchair in high school because he complimented Anna's eyes.

Sbu went to the kitchen as Anna searched for her iPhone, six missed calls from Billy. Anna had not called him since she arrived. She pulled her big white night gown, quickly put on her sleepers, and went to the balcony.

Billy : Anna, what the hell is wrong with you? Do you know how worried I've been?

Anna: I'm sorry babe, my friends had a little surprise for me, it was my birthday yesterday, I couldn't call you, I fell asleep and my phone was on mute.

Billy : You better not be messing around on me, Annabella. You know I love you so much

Anna : I love you too. I have to get ready for class, I'll call you later, bye.

" Anna, who was that?" Sbu had been listening to the conversation. He needed an explanation from her, "You did not take my calls for the whole three weeks. Now you are coming outside to take your calls, Anna. Do you still love me?" Sbu was obviously devastated, Anna did not want to make him worse than he was, but this was her only chance to come clean. She knew if she continued with the lie, someone was going to be hurt badly.

"Sbu I know you love me,you have been with me through everything, but I am sorry, I got back with my old boyfriend Billy, I need to provide for my siblings you know, Billy will help me, he is extremely jealous, should he find out that I have a boyfriend, he would kill me. Please try and understand. "

Sbu had heard enough. He did not want to hear anything much from Anna, and he left her at the balcony. Went inside, grabbed his car belongings, and went out. Anna took the gate's remote control from the kitchen counter and ran to her bedroom window as she saw Sbu pulling out. She opened the gate and let him leave.

" Girl! what the hell was that about? Are you crazy? You seriously went to Durban and got back with Billy, that dog of a man?". Refilwe overhead everything, she was worried about Anna. She was shocked at how rude she was after everything that had happened. "I went to Durban to bury my mother. Where do you think I got the money for the funeral and the rent? How do you think I managed to pay my share. Refilwe, Billy loves me. He is jealous because he loves me. " Anna sounded like she was trying to convince herself that she had done the right thing.

In class, she had a hard time concentrating, She had a massive hangover and was worried about her sister Asanda. How she managed to sleep with the kids since grandmother had left the day after the funeral. She knew she had to pass her final year and graduate so that she could fight the evil uncle who took all her father's estate's, he did not even come to Mama Jane's funeral. He was proud and bitter.

Finally the class was over, Anna stood up, forgot the bad she had placed on the left side when she walked in, she tripped and fell on her knee's, landed her hand on her iPhone, her head felt more heavier then when she woke up in the morning. Got up, quickly gathered her scattered books, and went out the door. She was embarrassed, and everybody was laughing at her. She needed to get to the apartment and sleep it off. As she plugged her phone on the charger, she noticed her screen was cracked, but it still worked perfectly fine.
