So, he made a resolute decision and brought her back to his own home. In the heart of the night, Vera lay on the bed, gazing at the ceiling. Tears trickled down her cheeks, seeping into her pillow. She had once harbored reservations about the divorce, but now that Howard had regained his sight, she felt even more superfluous and intrusive in their now harmonious lives.
