My voice was light and devoid of extra emotion, but the words sent a chill down my spine. Leonard simply wanted to break up.
"Howard's actions are also to protect you, and more importantly, to protect the project in your hands. He wants you to avoid the limelight," Steven said gently, acknowledging the truth even if he didn't want to admit it. In the business world, Howard is still the king. I didn't say anything in response, instead staring out the window as the scenery passed by in a blur. My thoughts were muddled and unclear, swirling with confusion and frustration.
"I want to take a walk by myself." Entering the city, I abruptly requested to be dropped off. Steven knew that I was hiding something in my mind and did not refuse.
