CHAPTER FOURTEEN __ CONFLICT OVER BOUNDARIES

782 Words
Kian paced in his apartment, restless, mind churning. The soft hum of the city outside seemed almost aggressive, pressing against the quiet he desperately needed. Aou had arrived earlier, his presence measured as always, yet something about him now felt… intrusive. Every deliberate movement, the careful alignment of his coat and shoes, the faint scent of lavender clinging to him. It was comforting and suffocating all at once. “คุณกำลังคิดอะไรอยู่?” "Khun gam-lang kít à-rai yùu?" “What are you thinking?” Aou asked, his voice calm but edged with concern. Kian stopped mid-step, fists clenched slightly. “I… I just need some space today,” he admitted, heart hammering. “I need to… breathe on my own for a while.” Aou’s brow furrowed ever so slightly. Not a lot, but enough for Kian to notice. “Space,” he repeated, testing the word as if weighing it carefully. “Of course. แต่…(buh..)” “But what?” Kian asked, wary. Aou hesitated, then straightened. “But you are my responsibility, Kian. Your well-being… I cannot ignore it.” “ I think you're just tired of doing the same thing every time. Would you like to come to my house or perhaps go skydiving with me?” His words were measured, but the intensity behind them was palpable. It wasn’t commanding. It was obsessive. Kian felt the tension tighten in his chest. “I know you care, i would like to, but not now” Kian said softly, stepping back, “but sometimes… Too much care feels like control. I need to make small choices for myself. Even if it’s hard.” “ Aou’s eyes darkened for a brief moment. The meticulous precision, the calm professionalism, the obsessive need to guide. It all flickered, a crack in his composure. Then he exhaled slowly, smoothing it over as usual. “I understand,” he said, though his voice was quieter than normal. “We will adjust. Everything. But do not push too far… or it could be unsafe for you.” Kian’s stomach knotted at that. Unsafe? His dependency on Aou made him flinch. “I’m not trying to be reckless,” he said, trying to explain, “I just… want a little control over my own life.” “ I want to understand things better” “ Is it too much?” Aou nodded, folding his hands neatly in front of him. “Mmmmmm. I get that. You're not asking for too much, but… not everything can be controlled.” A moment of silence passed. Kian noticed the small signs of Aou’s vulnerability he had started picking up over time. The slight hesitation before speaking, the watchful glances, the barely perceptible tension in his shoulders. And he realized, with a mix of dread and fascination, that “Aou’s obsession wasn’t just about him. It was part of who Aou was.” “I’m……I'm sorry if i sounded harsh” And I… I appreciate you,” Kian said finally, voice low. “I know you want to help me. I just… need to learn to trust myself too.” Aou’s lips twitched, almost a smile, then vanished. “Very well. Step by step. But know this…” His tone sharpened slightly, subtle but noticeable. “I am not someone who lets go easily.” Kian shivered not from fear, but from the electric tension that ran between them. The room felt charged, the air dense, like a storm contained within four walls. He realized that asserting boundaries wasn’t just about independence. It was provoking something in Aou he had never seen fully before. Then, almost hesitantly, Aou gestured toward the small two sitters' Pinterest chair tucked in the corner. “Would… Would you like to listen to a song with me for a while?. When the world feels tight, it can stretch the space inside you. Let's listen together” Kian looked at the chair, feeling strange. He doesn't really like music. He moved toward it, fingers brushing the chair, they sat together, Aou holding his hands while YELLOW BY COLDPLAY produced tentative notes that lingered in the room. Aou sings, “I came along, I wrote a song for you, and all the things you do…” His voice soft, reverent, flowing with emotion, as he gazes into Kian’s eyes, letting the words hang in the air between them. Kian’s small improvisation grew, learning each note from Aou as they both created something beautiful. The music made the room breathe with him, allowing him to reclaim tiny fragments of control, fragments he could call his own. “Boundaries. Tension. Control. And still… the pull of him was impossible to ignore,”
