Episode 7: The Frost's Revenge Rose and Lorraine were not girls who accepted defeat. While Leo sheltered Lola in the West Wing, the two of them retreated to the subterranean levels of the girls' dormitory—a place where the heating pipes were intentionally broken to allow the Cold Bloods to practice in their natural element. "He touched her," Rose hissed, her fingers tracing the faint blue bruises on her throat where Leo had gripped her. "He defended a Thermal in front of the entire academy." Lorraine was pacing, her eyes glowing with a faint, rhythmic pulse. "He didn't just defend her, Rose. He’s feeding from her. I saw his eyes in the cafeteria. He wasn't just satiated; he was empowered. If he masters her heat, he’ll be untouchable. The Council will name him the True Heir." "Not if she’s dead," Rose snarled. "We can't kill her," Lorraine countered. "Leo would freeze our hearts before we could draw a breath. But we can make her toxic. There is a ritual—the Salt of Bitterness. If we can slip it into her food, her Thermal energy will turn into a poison. When Leo tries to draw from her, it will burn him from the inside out." Rose smiled, a jagged, ugly expression. "And then, when he’s weak... we show him what happens to those who choose a mouse over a queen."
