Chapter 4
Today was Daciana's first day at Shadow Academy, a school for supernatural beings founded by the vampire king. The purpose of this school was to help all creatures from the three kingdoms coexist peacefully and learn to tolerate one another.
However, accomplishing this was difficult based on what Aurora shared about the academy.
Aurora was her aunt and her mother's friend.
Her mother entrusted her to Aurora the day she was born. It was her mother who instructed Aurora to hide in the human world, to train her, and to return with her once she came of age and could protect herself. This was necessary because things were not as they seemed.
Their enemy was within the Lycan kingdom.
Aurora highlighted the necessity of self-protection against hidden threats, reminding her to always approach opponents with respect and caution. With confidence and vigilance, she can tackle any challenge that arises!
Aurora took care of her as if she were her own child. She ensured that the girl had everything she needed, even though she never knew her biological mother. Aurora played the role of a mother very well in her life. From an early age, Aurora made it clear that she wasn't her mother, but rather her aunt.
During the day, Aurora's walls stood strong to shield her pain, but at night, they would gently fall away, and sometimes Daciana would hear the soft sounds of her tears.
Daciana could see that Aurora missed and longed to be in the supernatural world. She really hoped that things would be better for her aunt now that they were back in their world.
Aurora kept track of events in their world; that's how they knew that Regent Adolphus had been searching for Daciana for years, but without much success.
However, Aurora made it clear that they would return when Daciana came of age.
Aurora explained to her that, although Adolphus was a regent, he recognized that the throne rightfully belonged to Daciana.
Daciana drove into the school, however the place was deserted, meaning she was running late, she drove around looking for a parking spot, the only spot that was available was near a Porsche, she wondered who would drive a Porsche 911 Carrera white convertible to school.
She didn't even own a vehicle of her own, Aurora had borrowed her this Range sport p635, she knew that parking next to this Porsche was not going to end well.
However she wasn't going to drive around looking for a parking spot when she was already running late on her first day in school.
She got out of the car and posed, because she realized that she didn't know the way to the office.
She inhaled deeply and caught a mixture of scents. She ascended the stairs and came upon to two large golden doors with royal purple handles.
She pushed the large doors and they opened with a bang.
There was a hush of silence as all eyes were on her Daciana, and she was embarrassed in a way that one could mistake her face for a tomato.
Then the Whispers began:
"Who is she?"
"Why have I not seen her before?"
"I could look at her all day."
"She smells weird."
"What kind of creature is she?"
"Her eyes are different."
"Oh but I love her eyes and she is beautiful."
However one boy spoke straight to her.
"I'll be damned shorty! are you lost or something sweetheart, cause I ain't ever seen anyone like you here mami?"
The boy looked at Daciana and smirked at her showing his canines.
Daciana looked at him, she noted that he had pale skin, beauty beyond major, which meant he was a vampire.
Daciana's socializing skills weren't exactly good, so she just spoke what was on her mind.
"Actually I am lost, will you take me to the Administrator's office?" Daciana gave him a polite closed-mouth smile, charming him with her dimples.
The young vampire found himself stuttering,
"ummm- the-uh of.. off... off..ice, yeah sure."
the students erupted in laughter making the young vampire sober up immediately.
"I'll show you the way my lady if you'd follow me." he said bowing dramatically earning snickers from other students.
"After you" she gestures for him to lead the way.
"Name is Damien mami," he offered his hand and Daciana met his hand half way and they shook their hands.
"I am Daciana, thank you for helping me today."
Damien puffed out his chest showing off and proclaimed enthusiastically,
"Pleasure is all mine my lady and I shall be your escort today."
Daciana smiled at him and noted to herself that maybe school wasn't going to be as bad as she thought.
They made their way to the office.
Daciana's high-heeled boots were echoing on the marble floor.
The walls inside the school were painted grey.
Damien knocked on the office door and poked his head inside. He greeted the person inside and gestured for Daciana to follow him in.
"Someone would like to speak with you, Madam Balboa."
The lady looked at Damien, giving no attention to Daciana.
"Hello, Damien and company, what can I do for you?"
Damian cleared his throat awkwardly and glanced at Daciana.
Daciana also cleared her throat and spoke, "I'm new to the Academy."
Before she could finish, Madam Balboa interrupted her.
"Name and surname, please," she said, her voice slightly hoarse.
"Daciana Cordelia Jones," replied Daciana.
When Madam Balboa heard her name, she gasped and lowered her reading glasses. "Oh my! You do resemble your mother. May her soul continue to rest in peace."
"You knew my mother?" Daciana asked.
Absolutely! She was a student at the Academy and a truly remarkable individual.
Madam Balboa had a distant look in her eyes for a moment, but quickly shook her head and handed Daciana her schedule.
"Here you go, Daciana. And you, young man, show her where her next class is."
Daciana thanked Madam Balboa, took her schedule, and walked out.
