Chapter 2

1201 Words
"Goodnight daddies," I say kissing each dad on the cheek and giving my mom a hug. "Us too," my brother say forming a line. I roll my eyes even though they always do this. Honestly, I'd be concerned if they didn't. Going down the line, I kiss each cheek. By the time I'm done, my lips tingle from the stubble they all wear. Savages. "Love you!" I sing before practically skipping up the staircase. The sooner I'm 'in bed' the sooner I can get to Archer's fight. Thinking back to the dinner incident, I mentally high five my save. New archery set. I'm a great liar. I set everything up, plumping some pillows under the comforter and playing soft music so that if anyone walks in they know not to disturb 'me.' I almost feel bad lying to my family until I remember I shouldn't have to. I wouldn't have to if they would let me be myself. I step into the closet and change out of my lounge wear into something more appropriate for an underground ring. Tying up my naturally snowy hair, I grab a small bag for my phone, ID, keys, and money before stepping onto my balcony. I look left right and up casually checking for my brother's to be on one of their balconies before stepping over the railing. I put my fingers and feet in each crevice, scaling my way to the grass below. I take off in a jog when I'm finally down, heading to my car I start it up as quietly as possible before speeding down the driveway. Thank God the gaurds get Thanksgiving break off. It makes me sad that I won't be able to bring Archer to meet the family on Thanksgiving tomorrow, but what can I do? I've only so many options. In less than three minutes, I pull up outside a house and see my best friend running out the door. She falls dramatically down the steps and I let out an, "ooooohhhh..." When Natalia finally gets in, she let's out a deep breath. "That looked dangerous," I comment at her clumsiness before taking off down the road again. She nods with wide eyes. "It is! Especially when it's dark, but thank Jesus I didn't wear heels!" I eye her skirt a nod. "Yep. If the skirts above the knee..." "Wear flats. Stay classy," We finish off together. "You do realize I risked my life to watch a match that's just a practice right? The turnament doesn't start until Wednesday night." I scoff at her dramatics. "It's still important and if you would balance a book on your head like I did when I was younger you wouldn't be so clumsy." It's my friends turn to scoff now. "Yeah, okay princess." I pull into the lot across the street even though there are open spaces in front of the gym. If the cops bust us, hopefully we get out and they don't have our car blocked in. We step out and cross the street before walking to Hunkys gym. We step up to the front door and the bouncer asks for an ID. Usually I show mine and Natalia comes as my guest, but seeing as though I forgot my purse in the car I ask for her to get hers out. "Umm... Is this when I tell you I don't carry ID past 10?" I roll my eyes and sigh, knowing I'll have to go back to the car and back again. I take a step to go get my bag when Natalia grabs my wrist. "You don't have to go get it." She looks to the bouncer raising an eyebrow. "Does she?" Despite her smile, the man laughs at her attempt. "You need at least one ID." "Is this ID enough?" My best friend then proceeds to lift her top high, exposing her braless state. I widen my eyes and look at the bouncer. That had to have worked. He seems just as stunned as it takes a minute for him to speak. "Yeah... You come on in," he says stepping out of the way. "But you," he says to me with an arm out. "I'll need your...ID too." I squint in disgust ready to cuss him out. Luckily a familiar voice speaks up, throwing an arm around my shoulder too. "It's fine Mick she's my girl, you know that." He grunts and we begin heading down below the regular gym to the secret ring that lies beneath. "I'm glad you made it, but I told you I want you here 30 minutes early for extra... Activities. You're only ten minutes early." Archer sounds dissapointed and I feel terrible that I let him down. "Sorry. My family's hard to shake off and genius here fell down the stairs. Not to mention we couldn't get past the bouncer." Archer stops us outside the men's locker room. "No excuses, but I'll get Mick to let you in right away from now on okay?" I nod with a small smile. He's so considerate. He let's out a small growl before hoisting me up so I sit on his hips. "Give me a good luck kiss," he orders. I oblige, taking hold of his cheek and allowing him to devour my mouth. Archer was my first kiss and he takes pleasure in 'teaching me' whenever he can. His lips move hungrily and we continue this until I hear old Hank whining at Archer. "Boy! Get her outta here! You've gotta warm up for the big day Wednesday!" I groan into my boyfriend's mouth, knowing better than to pull away first. That always makes him sad. He gives me one more hard peck before setting me down and patting my bottom firmly. "Go find Natalia." I listen, walking into the large area that house's 500 seats and one large ring. I'd say about 100 seats are filled since it's just a practice match, but I know Wednesday it will be packed. I stand next to my best friend in our usual first row spot. "Did you bring food?" I look her blandly. "I didn't bring an ID what makes you think I have food?" "Touché." In 5 short minutes, Archer and his last opponent from last season walk out. Archer won, but it wasn't too easy. I look forward to seeing how much better he's gotten. They don't bother getting a ref before beginning their spar. Punches are thrown and I'm in awe at the speed and force of which both men can throw them. I cringe at the sight of Archer's foot knocking into the burly man across from him, but I can't help but imagine how empowering it must feel. It takes about two minutes for Archer to score a knockout and it's in that moment that I want to give it a try. I want to kick box, just to see how I like it. Luckily, my boyfriend is a professional. A grin breaks out on my face as I turn to my best friend. "Oh no! What's that face?! It's not a good face!" I laugh knowing she may just be right. "I'm going to try kickboxing."
