The next morning, I woke up feeling a bit groggy from the lack of sleep, but I forced myself to get ready for my shift at the diner.
Work was busier than usual today, and Hailey hadn't shown up yet. I was anxious to talk to her about the texts I'd gotten from Xavier last night. I'd blocked his number so he wouldn't bother me again, but the thought of him still lingered in my mind.
As I was taking an order from a customer, the bell above the diner door rang, and I looked up to see my entire group of friends walking in. I quickly finished up and hurried over to them.
"Guys, what a pleasant surprise! What are you all doing here? Shouldn't you be at work or something?" I asked, giving them a curious look.
