“This is my husband and his lover. I came home and caught them together. I told her to leave, and so did he, but she refused, saying my husband belonged to her, and then she attacked me twice.” I explained. I didn't want him to think she was a victim because she was sitting naked, and she had another look of terror on her face.
“Tha-that's not true.” She began to stutter. “He r***d me! They kidnapped me and brought me here!”
“What the f**k?” John shouted in surprise. I knew she would pull something like that.
“You're surprised your side piece is crying wolf in the face of the police?” I said with a snarky tone. The woman looked at me with venom in her eyes and then looked at John in pain, basically begging him to understand.
“Jessica, what the f**k are you doing?” John said to her.
“I…” she had no words for him as she looked between him and the officer.
“What? Do you not love him like you were claiming just minutes ago?” I asked tauntingly, daring her to start her claims again in front of the cop. The worse she acts in front of him, the more solid my report will be. She started to cry.
“Oh, please.” I pulled my phone up. Realizing I was still on the line with the nine-one-one operator. “I still have the operator on the line. She heard the whole thing, and I also have video proof.” Her head snapped my way with a murderous look. “Yes, I have a video of you f*****g my husband. I caught you looking at me, smiling while he railed you, and you begging him for more.” I opened my camera roll and quickly sent the video to my email and sent it as a text to myself and John's phone. I closed every app, reopened my camera roll, and pulled up the video again. For some reason, something told me to make multiple copies. I started playing the video and turned it to face everyone. John looked ashamed, she looked horrified, and the officer looked furious as they all watched the video.
“I've seen enough,” the officer said. I stopped the video. “Jessica, get up. And for f**k sake, get dressed.” She scrambled to her feet and collected her clothes off the floor. I've never seen anyone move so quickly. She put on her underwear and pulled a black, skin-tight, skimpy dress over her. It barely covered her ass.
“Yeah, it looks like you were kidnapped and brought here against your will. Tit's and ass hanging out. p***y barely covered. You told me you were going over to your sister's house to help with your mom. I this what you always wear there?”
“How do you know her?” John asked the officer. The officer gave him a deadly look.
“This is MY wife.” He said through clenched teeth. I suddenly felt unsafe again.
I returned the phone to my ear and said, “Ma'am, are you still there?”
“Yes, ma'am. I have already dispatched another unit to your location.” She replied.
“You can hang up now,” the officer said to me.
“Do not hang up until the other unit gets there,” said the operator. I looked at his name tag.
“The operator told me to stay on the line until the other unit gets here, Officer Brax.” I wanted to make sure the operator knew which officer was here in case he was one of those people who reacted drastically to these situations.
He paused and looked angry, but then a realization came over him. “Okay, ma'am. Do you want to press charges?”
Jessica looked at him in shock, “Dean!”
“Yes, I would,” I said. He turned her around and handcuffed her.
“Dean, what the f**k are you doing!? I'm your wife! You can't do this!” She screamed.
“You didn't look like my wife while you were sucking his d**k and telling her that he was yours. And actually, I have a legal obligation to arrest you since you attacked her.” He told her with a grin on his face. At that moment, another knock was heard. I opened the door, and two more officers stepped in. Their eyes widened at the scene in front of them. I guess they knew who they were. “Bradford, Lopez.” He greeted them.
“Brax, what's going on here?” the officer with the name tag Lopez asked.
“Mrs. Brax here was asked to leave twice and attacked this lady. She is pressing charges. Can you take her in your car while I get her information for the report?” Officer Brax asked.
“Yes, of course.” He responded, taking Jessica's arm.
“Dean, you can't do this to me! I'm your wife!” She screamed again. Before she was escorted out, she looked at John. “John, you can't let her do this to me! I'm sorry! Please, John!” Officer Lopez dragged her away as she was still screaming for my husband. This made Officer Brax look even worse. The look in his eyes was murderous and filled with not only hate but also a great deal of pain. I felt so bad for him.
The other officer stood with us in the living room, where my husband and I had laid just the night before, holding each other in a warm embrace on the couch as we talked about having a family together. Sadness spread across my face again. “Ma'am, I know you have gone through a lot, but I must ask you a few questions. What's your name?” Brax asked after taking a second to calm himself.
“Aurora Addams,” I replied.
“Okay, Mrs. Addams. I know we all watched the video, but in your own words, I need you to explain what happened.” The other officer stepped up next to us to listen as well. I went into detail, explaining the whole story again. At one point, Officer Bradford put his hand on Officer Brax’s shoulder because he saw his anger rising. He looked as disgusted as I felt. “Okay. I think I have everything I need for the report. I will need you to send me that video as evidence.” He pulled out a business card. “Just send it to this number.”
“Okay,” I replied.
“If you need anything, give me a call.” He looked deep in my eyes as if he felt my pain, and until I saw that look I didn't realize he was in the exact same boat as me. But I showed him the video proof. I felt horrible instantly. I saw them with my own eyes, but I just shoved it in his face with no warning.
“I'm sorry,” I said, feeling the guilt eat away at me. A look of confusion came over his face. “I didn't know she was your wife. I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it. Though I am severely devastated and pissed off, I’m glad I found out.” He looked at John, the anger resurfacing. “Do you need a place to go for the night?” he asked me, refusing to release eye contact with John.
“She’s fine. We need to talk about this.” He said, getting angry himself.
“Don’t f*****g do that!” I spat at him. He broke eye contact to look at me with betrayal. “You don’t get to be possessive of me anymore. Not after betraying me like that. And he has every right to be pissed at you, seeing as you were f*****g his wife.” I was getting angry again. “I was coming home happy with the most fantastic news for us, thinking we were going to have a beautiful moment of us being happy and crying from being overwhelmed with joy, but instead, I find out you have been going behind my back for months! f**k you, John!”
“Baby, please. Let me explain.” He pleaded. His eyes were welling up with tears. I could see his pain, but it didn't matter to me. I wanted him to suffer.
“Go for it!” I said, taking him by surprise. “Explain. Explain to me why you were f*****g another man’s wife while I’m here busting my ass and suffering, trying to make up for the years we’ve lost. Explain to me why you thought it was okay to bring another woman into our house and f**k her senseless in our bed. The same bed where we made love just last night, and you told me I was your entire world, you love me and would die if you had to live without me! Go ahead and explain to me how all that you have told me about your love for me was nothing but bullshit and lies!”
The tears that were threatening to fall from his eyes began to stream down his cheeks like a leaky faucet. I hated seeing him cry. I loved him so much that it physically hurt me to see his tears. I had to hold back from holding him because I realized at that moment I still loved him, and it still hurt me, even though everything I said I meant. “I’m so sorry, my love. You really are the only woman for m-”
“Bullshit!” I shouted, cutting him off again. How could he even think about saying that to me after what he had done? It wasn't fair. “Why f**k her then!? If I'm the only one for you, then why?”
“I love you, I just…. Your body just isn't…”
My heart began to break again. He was really going to say the same thing he told her. He was going to repeat what he said earlier: that her body was better than mine. “Well, I guess that doesn't matter anymore,” I said in a soft, hurt voice. “You can have any girl you want now. I’d suggest not going after a married woman, though. You're going to get yourself killed.”
His tears came down harder as he cried uncontrollably, “Baby, please! We can work this out! I love you and only you. I don't want to be with anyone else!”
“It didn't look that way.”
“It was just s*x!”
“John! That means nothing to me! No, actually, that means a s**t ton! For 10 years, I've been begging you to be physically intimate with me. Do you know why? Because I loved you. I wanted you in every way possible. That's what true love is. Even as your body changed over the years, for better and worse, I've always wanted you. No matter how you looked, you were always the sexiest man in my eyes. But I was never that for you. When we have s*x, it takes you two minutes, and you're done with me. We have s*x maybe twice a month. But you supposedly love me with all of your heart, right? I don't believe that for a second. Another woman got from you what I've been fighting for our whole relationship. And you don't even give two shits about her. A woman that you don't care about got what I've wanted from you without any hesitation from you. But I'm supposedly the love of your life, and I have to fight for your physical affection. ” I couldn't help it anymore. I started crying. “I'm done fighting John. I don't want it anymore. Any of it.”
“Baby, please. This has been the biggest mistake of my life. Please. I can't lose you. Please, don't leave me.” His face, eyes, and nose were red. I really hated seeing him cry. All I ever wanted was to protect his feelings. But at that moment, I didn't want to protect him anymore. I couldn't. “Baby, please. We're going to have a baby. I don't want to lose the two of you.” I had almost forgotten about the baby.
“You don't love me. So I won't stay. But prove to me that you'll never hurt this baby, and you'll be a good influence on them and I won't keep them from you.”
He dropped to the floor. “My love, please! I don't want to live without you. You and that baby are the only ones that matter to me.”
“Tell that to Jessica,” I said coldly. I looked at the two officers. Officer Bradford looked uncomfortable, but Officer Brax looked like he was loving every moment of John's suffering. “Officer, I do need a place to stay for the night. Where can I go?”
Before he could answer, John jumped up. “No, you're not leaving. I'll leave.”
“I'm not staying here. I'm not sleeping in that bed; I'm not staying in this house. It's not good for me to be here.”
“You're not just going to go with some random guy. Are you stupid?”
“No, that's your job. You don't get a say in what I do anymore.”
“You're still carrying my kid. I get a say.”
“Now you care? You know what, pump your d**k in and out of some other b***h and tell me you get a say. Because to be honest, I think that revokes any privileges that you had.” He was thrown off guard by that comment. He knew he f****d up. But he thought I would never keep him from his baby. It hurt me to do it because I know how badly he's been wanting to be a dad. But I couldn’t be around him at that moment. “Officer,” I said. And with that, Officer Brax helped me gather some things and led me out of the house. I turned and saw Jessica still screaming in the backseat of Officer Lopez’s car.
“That's not going to be a fun ride.” Officer Bradford said. “What's the charge?”
“Assault, battery, disturbing the peace,” Officer Bradford replied.
“And aggravated battery on an officer. Crazy b***h bit me.” Officer Lopez said as he walked up to us.
“Are you okay?” I asked. “Where did she bite you?” They all looked at me with a questioning look.
“She bit my arm. It's okay, I'm fine.” I looked down and saw a rag-looking thing wrapped around his right arm with blood on it. I immediately ran back into the house to get some alcohol and bandages. When I came back out, I didn't even think; I just grabbed the officer's arm and examined the wound.
“You're going to need stitches,” I said and opened the alcohol. He instinctively snatched his arm. “You need to clean the wound before you get an infection.”
“It'll be fine.” He said.
“If she has an STD, no, you won't be. You need to clean the wound and get yourself down to the hospital immediately.” His face changed, and he gave me back his arm. “This is going to sting a lot,” I warned him. I poured the alcohol onto his arm, and he tensed up and began grunting. “I'm sorry.”
“Suck it up, you big baby,” Bradford said with a chuckle.
“Ma'am, you said if she has an STD. Does your husband have one?” Brax asked me.
“I don't know. But they've been together for a long time, and I don't know who else my husband has stepped out on me with. I don't know if she had been with anyone else, either. It's better to be safe than sorry,” I explained. His face contorted.
“How long?”
“I'm sorry?”
“You said they've been together for a long time. How long?”
“She said six months.” I finished wrapping Lopez's arm, and Brax began making his way toward his wife.
“Dean, don't!” Officer Bradford sped after him. “Dean, I know you feel betrayed right now, but adding charges or fighting with her will not be good for you right now.”
“She's been cheating on me since the transfer,” he said with calm rage. The transfer? I guessed that they had a life-changing moment that caused her to cheat, too. Why is it that people use other things as a reason to step out on their partner?
“I know, but you have bigger things to worry about. Help her first.” Bradford nodded towards me. Brax stopped and looked back.
“Please don't go.” I didn't realize John had come out, so it scared me when I heard his voice. “Please just stay and talk to me. I've always been a good husband to you. Please give me a chance to just…”
“So I guess the past six months don't count?” I asked with sarcasm. “That's not being a good husband to me, John. You can justify it any way you want, but the fact of the matter is you cheated on me for months. You're a terrible husband. You don't deserve to be happy with me. You don't deserve my love, my affection, my time, or my life. I'm done with you. I forgave so much about you. But this, I can't.”
“Please, it was a mistake.”
“Would you accept that? If you came home and found me in our bed with another man taking his c**k from behind and then sucking his d**k, would you be able just to turn the other way and forgive me?” He put his head in his hands as if the thought gave him a headache. “No, you wouldn't. You couldn't. Because that is one of the worst betrayals. I've stayed faithful to you, but the moment you found out why we couldn't have kids, you f****d some other tramp, and for what? You already said you don't love or want to be with her, so why?” He stood quiet, but I already knew the answer. I wanted to hear it from him, though. “WHY?” I shouted. Officer Brax was at my side and placed a hand on my shoulder.
“Calm down, Mrs. Addams.” He said.
“Tell me why, John,” I said, calmer. “I deserve that much, at the very least.”
John looked up at me, tears in his eyes. “Because I'm a piece of s**t. You are so beautiful, but I could never get past how fat you were. Your body was just so gross to me, and I couldn't look past that when we were having s*x. s*x with you was just a chore. But I've always loved you. You are the most wonderful person in the world. You are my best friend.”
His words cut through me like a knife. “And recently? I've lost all the weight, so why still?”
He began quietly sobbing, ashamed of what he was about to say. “You're stretched out too much. Your skin is so gross. It makes you look like you're seventy years old.” I knew my skin was a little loose, but I didn't think it was that bad. I've never been more hurt or ashamed than I was at that moment.
“Please get me out of here,” I said softly to Brax. He led me to his patrol car, and John broke down.
“Baby, please! Don't go! I love you! I promise I love you! I'm so sorry! Let me go! I need her to believe me! Baby! Baby, please look at me!” He shouted as I walked away. I could hear him struggling with the other officers. But I couldn't look back. I began quietly sobbing. The life that I knew was now over, and the man that I loved no longer existed. Brax put me in the front seat and drove away. The moment my home was no longer in view, I began to cry ugly and uncontrollably, mourning my life and my marriage.
