Trust

Jacob’s Point of View Valentia was a vision, her dark curls falling on her glowing skin as we stood at the altar across from each other, her dark hair falling in waves down her breasts. Her white dress was illuminated by the sunlight as birds surrounded us, their pleasant chirps filling the air as we said our vows. The air around her seemed to shimmer, a fog in the rest of my vision. I didn’t notice. All that I could see was her, and the bump signalling our child growing inside of her. “Valentia,” I whispered into her ear after the passionate kiss that felt foreign but required. “I love you.” “I love you too, Jacob.” Jasmine’s Point of View At the center, I knocked on Anna’s door, her sharp features softening when she saw it was me requesting her presence. “Your majesty,” She nodded, opening the door to let me in. “Please, for the love of the gods, cut the formalities,”I begged with a smile. “How are you holding up?” “I’m doing as well as I can. The therapy is really helping, and the doctor gave me medicine to treat the STI that I had. I’m just grateful it wasn’t anything permanent.” Nodding in agreement, I placed a hand on her shoulder. “I understand. I’m grateful, as well. Tell me - how would you feel about going for a swim?” A grin broke out across her face. “A swim sounds good right about now, actually.” At the palace, Geoff provided her with a selection of swimsuits, and after she chose a purple one piece, we headed towards the water. We swam for hours, enjoying the remaining sunlight of the early Autumn. “Ladies!” A voice rang out. I looked up, only to see Caspian, gorgeous curls and all, coming by on a jet ski before jumping off, splashing us. We both shrieked as he came to the surface, shaking his head with drops of the salty water spraying our faces. “Caspian!” I couldn’t stay mad as I looked at his smiling face. “What an entrance!” “Hi, Caspian,” Anna said, skimming her hand over the water so that it flew onto him. A loud chuckle emanated from him. “I see I’ve made a fatal error in my method of joining you.” Shaking my head, I grinned. “Now how could I possibly be upset with you, love?” “I’ll show you,” He said, mischief glimmering in his eyes as he picked me up and threw me. “Caspian, I am going to kill you!” He looked far too pleased with himself. Despite my show, I was far from annoyed with him. I had never been more in love with him. Cherry’s Point of View The club was filled with strobe lights and music as I waited for Landon’s band, Blue Jeans, to come on stage. The long slit in my black dress drew the eyes of the men around me, but I had no interest in them. Despite my insistence that Landon was a rebound, I was starting to doubt those notions. It was soon, but he made me laugh - something no man besides Jacob had been able to make me do. Finally, it was announced that the band was going to play, and I danced to the hard rock, feeding off of the way he eyed me as his fingers danced across the strings of his guitar. I felt a new type of energy in that room, one that I was high off of - lust. It was coming from everywhere, and I could practically see it. The couple dancing beside me was radiating it, and from stage, the deep red shades poured from Landon towards myself. I was surprised to see that I, too, was glowing red, red with a need that I’d only felt for my ex-husband in the past. After the set, he found me in the audience, pushing his shaggy dark hair out of his eyes. “You looked good out on the dance floor,” He whispered into my ear. “You looked even better playing the guitar,” I replied, nipping his earlobe in a touch of boldness that came over me. He pulled away, the lust smoldering in his eyes in that moment, and he grabbed my hand. “Cherry, I want you, but this if this is too soon for you…” I shook my head. “Let’s go back to your place.” His home was large and spacious, decorated impeccably as though done by a professional. I didn’t have much time to notice it, though, because my lips were on his, and his hands were sliding into the slit of my dress, tracing the outside of my thigh while the other trailed up my bare back until he was holding the back of my neck. “f**k, Landon,” I whispered, dragging him onto the bed and kissing him fervently. He lifted my dress over my head, revealing my bare skin underneath, and he climbed on top of me, his mouth finding my neck. An image of Jacob flashed through my mind, but I pushed it away. In the moment. I needed to be in the moment. And looking at Landon’s deep blue eyes, the moment wasn’t bad - wasn’t bad at all. “Gods, Cherry, you’re f*****g gorgeous,” He said, spreading my legs and wrapping them around his waist. I was already wet and ready for him, and I pushed him over, getting on top of him. Landon’s length pressed against me and I grabbed a condom from my purse, rolling it on him before sinking onto his hard c**k. We both moaned in unison as I leaned over, meeting his lips with mine. An undeniable spark passed between us, and I saw something else coming from him - trust. Much to my surprise, it was mutual trust, one shared between us. Deep inside of me, something was shifting with this man, and I knew then that it was more than a rebound. The way his hands moved across my body electrified me, his lips tantalized mine. Climaxing together, I allowed myself to burn in his passion. When morning came, I explored the luxurious penthouse apartment while Landon made me breakfast. Apparently, the man loved to cook, and I wasn’t complaining. I also didn’t complain when he took me to his hot tub and insisted we eat there. “A bit of a romantic, aren’t you?” I teased as we watched the sun rise, sipping our cocoa on his balcony. “Hopeless.” Landon’s grin was charming, and I couldn’t help but smile back at him. “You know, I don’t know what it is, Cherry, but you’ve got me under your spell.” As he spoke, he reached across the warm water and took my hand. Lacing my fingers through his, I nodded in agreement. “I could say the same, Landon. I’m having a great time with you. But, I do have to leave soon to get the twins from their grandma’s place.” “How is that, by the way? Leaving them with your ex’s parents?” His thumb travelled in circles against the back of my hand, soothing me as I sighed. “Somehow, it’s not weird. I work with his parents, and they’re just as shocked as I am that he just took off out of nowhere for another woman. He hasn’t even contacted them, and I still consider them family.” “That’s good, then.” He brought my hand to his lips and kissed it. “When can I see you again?” “How does next Friday sound? They normally stay with their grandparents then.” Smiling, he nodded. “Next Friday, then. I’ll pick you up at seven.” “See you at seven.” When I got back home, I was met with a very angry Jasmine. “Cherry, where the hell have you been?” “What?” I shrugged, surprised to see the fury in her normally peaceful eyes. “I stayed over at Landon’s place.” She looked as though she could fall over. “You stayed with him? So soon after Jacob? Cherry, are you rebounding?” Jasmine followed me throughout the house as I made my way up the stairs, chattering as though she were Elenor the whole time. “Are you sure this isn’t a rebound? Did you at least use protection? I don’t want you to do something that you’ll regret!” Sighing, I turned around. “Jasmine! Calm down. Who cares if I’m rebounding? Am I not entitled to it? And besides, I actually like Landon. He’s very sweet, and beyond sexy.” “Are you really over Jacob, though, Cherry?” Rubbing my eyes, I softened my glare. “No. I don’t think I’ll ever be over Jacob, but he is over me. Everytime I try to see him, he’s smiling with that woman. Or in bed with that woman. Or kissing that woman. So forgive me for at least pretending to be over him long enough to have a good time.” With that, she pulled me into her arms, and I rested my head on her shoulder. I thought back to other times she’d brought me comfort. I tasted my tears on my lips, felt my shoulders shuddering. “I love him, Jasmine. How could he have left me like this?” “I know, I know Cherry. I know.” She soothed me, just as she always did. “It’s going to be okay. I’m glad you have Landon. It’s going to be okay.” Nodding, I pulled myself away, falling onto my bed. She sat beside me, and I lay my head in her lap, letting her play with my hair until it was time to get the kids.
