Bad dream

689 Words
Trust doesn’t always break with noise. Sometimes— It breaks in silence. And that silence… carries guilt no one can hide. --- Caitlin woke up suddenly. Her breath uneven. Her heart racing. CAITLIN “Alisa…!” Alisa rushed in immediately. ALISA “What happened? Why are you shouting?” Caitlin held her head. CAITLIN “I don’t know… I saw someone… maybe just a bad dream.” Alisa tried to stay calm. ALISA “Do you need anything?” She quickly tied her hair, slightly nervous. Caitlin noticed. CAITLIN “Yes… coffee. But wait—why do you look scared?” Alisa forced a small smile. ALISA “I’m not. Just tired from work.” Caitlin softened. CAITLIN “You need rest. I know I’ve been exhausting for you.” Alisa sat beside her and hugged her gently. ALISA “You’re not my burden. I care about you.” Caitlin smiled faintly. Then— Her eyes paused. CAITLIN “Wait… what’s that on your neck?” Alisa froze for a second. She touched her neck and walked toward the mirror. A mark. A clear one. Her breath tightened. ALISA “It’s just… a mosquito bite.” Caitlin narrowed her eyes. CAITLIN “Don’t lie. That’s not a mosquito bite.” A pause. CAITLIN (half teasing, half serious) “I know what that looks like… Raffelo isn’t exactly gentle.” Alisa’s expression changed. ALISA (quickly) Why do you always bring his name into everything? It’s nothing. Caitlin sighed. CAITLIN “Okay… fine.” --- Alisa served her lunch and coffee. Gave her medicine. And soon— Caitlin fell asleep again. --- EVENING — 8 PM Alisa sat with her laptop, working. But her mind— Was somewhere else. With him. With that moment. With what shouldn’t have happened. --- A doorbell rang. She stood up. Wearing a soft purple lace nightgown, she walked toward the door. She opened it. Raffelo. Standing there. Calm. But not really. ALISA “You’re here.” RAFFELO (low voice) “I couldn’t stop thinking about you.” The air shifted instantly. He stepped closer. Took her hand. Gently— But firmly. He led her outside. ALISA (tense) “What do you want?” Raffelo looked at her. Honest. Unfiltered. RAFFELO “I don’t know… I just know I can’t stay away from you.” She tried to pull back. ALISA “This is wrong.” But he didn’t let go. He pulled her closer— Too close. The space between them disappeared. His hand found her waist. Her breath hitched. And then— He kissed her. Not soft. Not hesitant. But intense. Like something he had been holding back. Her resistance faded. Slowly. Dangerously. She responded. And the moment deepened. Uncontrolled. Conflicted. His touch moved across her, pulling her closer, as if afraid she would disappear. She held onto him too— Equally lost. Equally wrong. --- And then— A voice. CAITLIN (O.S.) “What are you doing?!” Everything shattered. They broke apart instantly. Caitlin stood there. Shock. Pain. Betrayal. Her voice trembled— Then rose. CAITLIN “You… both of you—what is this?!” Alisa stepped back, trying to fix herself, trying to speak— ALISA “You’re misunderstanding—” CAITLIN (shouting) Am I?! Her eyes filled with tears. CAITLIN My boyfriend… and my sister? Silence. Heavy. Brutal. Raffelo tried to step forward. RAFFELO Caitlin, listen— CAITLIN (cutting him off) Don’t. Her voice broke. CAITLIN You were always like this… I just refused to see it. She looked at Alisa. Hurt beyond words. CAITLIN And you… A pause. CAITLIN I trusted you. Alisa’s voice shook. ALISA I’m sorry… Caitlin laughed weakly. CAITLIN Sorry? For what? Breaking me… or betraying me? Her breathing became uneven. The pain— Too much. Too sudden. --- And then— She collapsed. --- ALISA (terrified) “Caitlin!” Both of them rushed toward her. Fear replaced everything else. --- Suddenly— Caitlin’s eyes opened. She gasped. Back in her bed. Safe. Alisa beside her. --- It was a dream. But the feeling— The betrayal— The fear— Felt real. Too real.
