She inhaled deeply, appreciating the smells of the sea, the heaviness of the salt in the air, and the way the breeze played with her hair. She tilted her head back and beckoned the ocean to her.
"NO! Don't you dare ruin those shoes!" Nyx yelled behind her, breaking Mara out of her trance. She turned and smiled guiltily at Nyx, Thanatos gave a knowing smirk.
"It's beautiful out here, isn't it?" She asked.
"Oh Gods yes.. I never want to leave," Mara sighed happily.
"Let's get to the party. The house is right here," Nyx said cautiously, as if Mara was going to flee straight for the water without a care in the world. Mara turned and looked at the ornate palace right on the sand, shocked she hadn't seen it before. She took a moment to appreciate the Greek architecture, a marble palace with a grand stair case leading right into the sand. Marble pillars held up a balcony that sat over a large marble porch, both were barren of furniture, despite the fact they probably held the best views in the house. The mansion sat on the end of a peninsula, no neighbors in sight, just miles of endless beach, waves lapping against the shore in steady rhythm, as if to soothe Mara's nerves. The three women ascended the stairs and Mara appraised the palace in awe. The solid marble reminded her of a white sand beach on a sunny day. She stopped and brushed her fingers against one of the massive pillars.
"Oh my gods, it's like travelling with a cripple!" Nyx groaned and grabbed Mara's hand dragging her along inside. Music pulsed and the two women squealed and picked up speed, heading straight for it, dragging Mara along in their wake. They led her to a massive room that was decorated like a small club. Couches were dispersed throughout, with gorgeous gods and meek humans lounging against them. As soon as Mara entered the room, all eyes turned and seemed to be on her. She bit her lip and looked down at her feet, a blush flooding her cheeks. Thanatos looked back at her with a sweet smile.
"Let's get you a drink," she said quietly, looping her arm through Mara's and leading the way, weaving through the crowd. The conversations picked back up and Mara's heart calmed to a steady beat.
"What'll it be, Natty?" The bartender asked.
"Three nectars, please, Tanty," Thanatos said with a smile. She was one of the few goddesses who could get away with calling him his nickname.
"Natty?" Mara asked.
"Ah, yes. It's a nickname. Thanatos can be a bit of a mouthful," she answered as Tantalus set the drinks on the bar. "Where's Dion?"
"He went off with a couple humans and asked me to take over. Honestly, I don't really know what I'm doing but thank the Gods everything is labeled," Tantalus joked. Mara appraised him while taking sips of her drink. He had dark, disheveled hair, but it was artfully so as it he spent hours on it trying to make it look like he just got out of bed. He was slender, not as built as Hades, but still strong, and tattoos decorated his forearms. He caught her watching him and smirked at her, his eyes inviting. She smiled back shyly and turned her back to him, looking out at the sea of people that seemed to pulse to the music, then her eyes drifted back to the large windows that overlooked the beach and a sense of longing overcame her. She sighed dreamily and sipped her drink, listening in on the conversation between Nat, Nyx, and Tantalus. It seemed to be gossip about people she didn't know, someone named Aphrodite and another woman named Hera.
---------------------------------------
He knew exactly when she entered the room, the smell of the sea permeated the room as her nervousness increased. So it was true, she was the new Goddess of the Sea. f**k.
"Whatta ya think little brother?" Zeus came up and slapped him on the back, almost making him almost spill his drink. He glared at his brother and turned away from her to look at the mortal he had seen at the club. She had been trying hard to get his attention since she showed up. He kept his face in her direction but his eyes drifted back to the new goddess. She was truly breath taking, even from all the way over here. She was beautiful the day he found her, but he was so furious with his brothers he didn't take the time to appreciate it. Now he did, gazing at her. She was...well she was an absolute knockout. She was all woman, with curves he wanted to feel against his body, voluptuous t**s, and hair that he wanted to get tangled up in. He took a deep gulp of his drink and his brothers sat down on either side of him.
"You gonna go say hello, fucker?" Hades asked him, following his line of sight over to the new goddess who was laughing at some bullshit Tantalus had said.
"Why the hell would I do that?" Poseidon asked, taking his eyes off of her and reluctantly dragging them back over to the mortals in front of him. Three women were grinding against each other and feeling each other up. It disgusted him.
"Why indeed," Hades quipped, the hint of a smile in his voice, noticing how his brother's eyes drifted back to the gorgeous woman at the bar. Poseidon felt Hades' eyes on him and tore them away from the maiden at the bar. he raked his hand through his hair and emptied his drink. His brothers followed suit and one by one they stood and made their way across the room to order more drinks. Poseidon's heart hammered harder in his chest with every step he took towards the woman.
She turned around suddenly, meeting his eyes.
