Seas of Change

1009 Words
Poseidon paced in his room, a whisky bottle in one hand, taking sips off of it every so often. His other hand was restlessly tangled in his hair.  He fought against the urge to break a hole in the sky with his brother's face, opting instead to come home and drown himself in the laced drink of the Gods, the only thing capable of actually affecting a God or Goddess's inhibitions, getting them close to drunk.  "Unfuckingbelievable. Their incorrigible. Where the f**k do they find the time for this s**t? That's why Zeus didn't try very hard to try to stop me from leaving! It was all a ploy!" He shouted, his voice echoing off the walls, the seas outside were threatening to swallow up the world.  Poseidon collapsed on his couch after hours of pacing. The drink was doing what it was supposed to, and he was feeling both tired and wild, with crazy ideas flowing through his mind. One of the ones he clung to kept running around, popping up and disappearing again before it stuck.  "I'll show them. I'll show them just how fine I am," he said with a dark laugh, tipping the bottle to his lips once more.  --------------- The next morning, Poseidon's portal took him to the man he needed to see- Tantalus.  "Tanty-boy, how you doin?" Poseidon greeted the young God.  "I wish you wouldn't call me that, especially here," Tantalus gestured around his club. "What do you want?" "Now now..is that the way to speak to the King of the Sea?" Poseidon quipped, holding Tantalus' gaze. The weaker God broke eye contact and shifted his gaze to the floor. "Kidding, kidding. I do want something, though. I want to throw a party at my palace."  Tantalus' gazed at him for a moment, at a loss for words. "Excuse me? I can't have heard that right."  "I said what I said, buddy. Can you help me or not?" Poseidon's temper flared.  This will be a fun party, Tantalus thought.  "Sure thing, I guess. What do you need from me?"  "Food, drink, people. The usual," Poseidon smiled at him, but it didn't reach his eyes.  "You'll need more than just me... Dion is usually one to go to for raging parties.." Tantalus drifted off.  "Sure, sure...but you can make the party...tantalizing," Poseidon quipped.  Tantalus rolled his eyes. The Gods never let him forget the awful myth the mortals conjured up.  "Fine. Btu seriously, get Dionysus in on this too. You're going to need help and a lot of drink for your first coming out party since...." Tantalus let his voice drift off, not wanting to mention her name. Poseidon, however, showed no emotion at her name, and Tantalus thought maybe he was ready for this, after all.  "My next stop," the God grinned and disappeared in a portal of wind and waves.  --------------------- Dionysus was enjoying the vibes of s*x, sweat, and bad decisions swirling around him in the underground nightclub, a tasty treat for himself and he was going to make sure to get his fill. He sent out waves of desire and slowly saw the recognition of it flash in the eyes of the mortals, releasing more of their inhibition. He enjoyed toying with mortals, as their sinful desires fed him and kept him strong. In a flash of sea and sand, Poseidon appeared out of thin air. Dion was on the second floor of the club, the VIP area, watching the mortals grind against each other and paid little attention to the new addition. "How are you, good buddy?" He asked, chuffing Dion on the shoulder.  "I should ask YOU that," Dion quipped, but he reached into the mind of Poseidon, searching for any despair or pain, and finding only guilt. He was getting better. "What can I help you with? You never come to me unless you need something."  "Ah, have I made that impression on you?" Poseidon looked at him with a smile twinging the corners of his mouth.  Ignoring the question, Dion countered, "What can I do for you?"  Poseidon looked out at the sea of writhing mortals, and pondered asking the magic question. Dion was known to be unpredictable. "I want to throw a party. I was wondering if you would be interested in helping out?"  "Your brothers too busy?" Dion rolled his eyes.  "Actually, I'm doing this on my own. At my place," Poseidon said it nonchalantly, but he knew the effect it would have.  Dion gaped at him. There hasn't been a party there since... "The wedding. I know. I thought it was about time," Poseidon said, reading his thoughts. Mind-reading was a gift of the Triad, though it wasn't actually mind reading- Poseidon would have had to touch him for that to work. They could just glean bits and pieces of thoughts from people if they focused.  "I accept. What's in it for me?" Dion asked.  "What would you like?" Poseidon asked cautiously. Dion was a swindler.  "Five billion Drachma," Dion held Poseidon's gaze before bursting out in a hearty laugh. "For you, old friend, I will do it for the laughs. Why don't we meet next week and put together some party plans?"  Poseidon caught the eye of a young woman who looked at him appreciatively and licked her lips. He held her gaze with a grim expression.  "Sounds fine, I suppose," he murmured. "Bring her and her friends along. She seems as though she would be good payback for my brothers. A decent amount of mortals- gotta keep it interesting."  "As you wish," Dion suppressed a smile. Toying with mortals was a game he often played with the elder gods- little playthings like the woman eyeing up Poseidon were often easy to wine and dine, with almost no inhibitions. Oftentimes multiple Gods would take mortals to bed and share them with each other. His eyes flashed as he increased the level of lust in the room, not even bothering to bid Poseidon adieu, he approached the mortals.  Let the games begin.
