Sena woke up on the couch.

With River’s jacket over her.

And a headache.

Did it happen?

Did they really kiss?

The office was empty.

River’s side of the desk was clean.

His laptop gone.

Coffee made.

Two cups.

One black. One with 1 sugar.

Hers.

A sticky note on her cup:

9AM. Investor presentation. Don’t be late. -R

No mention of last night.

Sena’s stomach dropped.

PART 2: THE AWKWARD

8:55 AM. CONFERENCE ROOM.

River was already there.

Suit perfect.

Hair perfect.

Face: CEO mask.

Sena walked in.

He didn’t look up.

"Morning," Sena said.

"Morning," River said. To the slides.

The team came in.

Felt the tension.

Left quickly.

Alone.

10 minutes until investors.

Sena couldn’t take it.

"Was it a mistake?"

River finally looked at her.

Eyes tired.

"Which part?"

"Last night."

River was quiet.

Too quiet.

"River?"

"I don’t make mistakes, Han," he said.

"But I also don’t do... this."

Sena’s chest hurt.

"So it was a mistake."

"I didn’t say that."

"Then what are you saying?"

Before he could answer:

The investors walked in.

5 of them.

Suits. Smiles.

"CEOs!" they said. "Ready to pitch?"

River and Sena looked at each other.

Switched to CEO mode instantly.

"Ready," they said together.

PART 3: THE PRESENTATION

It was flawless.

Sena talked vision.

River talked numbers.

They finished each other’s sentences.

They handed each other the clicker.

They looked like a team.

Like more than a team.

The investors loved it.

"Amazing chemistry," one said.

"You two work so well together."

After they left:

River exhaled.

Like he’d been holding his breath for an hour.

Sena packed her stuff.

"Good job," she said. To the floor.

"You too," River said. To the window.

Silence.

Then River’s phone buzzed.

His dad.

Again.

`I saw the investor video.

You looked soft with her.

Don’t get distracted. Win.`

River deleted it.

But Sena saw.

"Is he pressuring you?" she asked.

"Always."

"About me?"

"About winning."

Sena nodded.

"Right. Winning."

She grabbed her bag.

"I’ll be in my office."

PART 4: THE CONFRONTATION

7:00 PM. ROOFTOP.

Sena was there.

Looking at the city.

River found her.

"I’m not good at this," he said. No greeting.

"At what?"

"At... whatever this is."

Sena turned.

"Do you regret it?"

"No."

"Then what?"

River sighed.

"I’m scared, okay?"

Sena blinked.

"Of me?"

"Of losing you.

Of my dad using you.

Of this being real and then it’s not."

Sena’s heart cracked.

She walked to him.

Stood in front of him.

"River Kwon.

Ice cold CEO.

Afraid of me?"

"Yes," he said. Honest.

"Then let me make it easier," Sena said.

She took his hand.

Put it on her cheek.

"I liked it," she whispered.

"The kiss."

"I liked it too," River said.

"So stop acting like it didn’t happen."

River closed his eyes.

When he opened them, the mask was gone.

"Okay," he said.

"Okay."

He leaned down.

Kissed her.

Slower this time.

Sure this time.

No fear.

When they pulled apart:

"Partners?" Sena asked.

"More than partners," River said.

"What then?"

River thought.

"Us."

Sena smiled.

Big.

Real.

PART 5: THE DECISION

11:00 PM. CEO OFFICE.

They were working again.

But different.

River’s hand found hers under the desk.

Sena didn’t pull away.

Email ping.

From BlueRiver Board.

`Due to your performance,

we’re making the joint acquisition permanent.

You are now Co-CEOs. Indefinitely.`

Sena read it.

Looked at River.

"So... we’re stuck together."

"Looks like it," River said.

"For how long?"

"Forever," River said. Then quickly: "At work.

At work forever."

Sena laughed.

"Idiot."

"Yours," River said.

Sena froze.

"What?"

"You heard me."

"Say it again."

"No."

"River—"

"Yours," he said again. Quieter. "If you want."

Sena stood up.

Walked around the desk.

Sat on his lap.

"I want," she said.

And kissed him.

No emergency.

No power outage.

Just them.
