***Bane’s POV*** The library was silent except for the faint creak of the floorboards under their steps. Dust clung to the air, stirred by their movements as they moved between shelves of old, leather-bound tomes. Lizzy ran her fingers over spines, eyes scanning faded titles. “She’s hidden herself well. But if she’s more than wolf, there has to be something. Bloodlines, histories, warnings—something.” Bane pulled a thick volume from the shelf, the scent of parchment and age rolling out with it.
