Ogres—real ogres—are nasty, awful things.
As a rule, they’re brutish, gullible, and dull-witted, but they can be cunning when it comes to laying traps and ambushing prey. Some say they are the accidental offspring of giants and stone-demons. Others say they are the result of ancient sorcery and twisted spells intended to mix the race of trolls with the race of men. This might explain why ogres can be extremely superstitious and are afraid of magic. They are simple-minded and magic confuses them. Magic is one of the few things which scares them.
