THUD. The car came to a sudden stop. Alicia’s heart pounded violently as her hands trembled on the steering wheel. “No… no…” she whispered in shock. She quickly opened the door and ran out. There, lying on the road, was a man—unconscious. “Oh my God…” Alicia’s voice shook as panic filled her chest. But despite her fear, her training took over. She knelt beside him, checking his pulse with trembling fingers. “Stay with me… please…” she pleaded softly. Her mind raced. She knew she had to act fast. With shaking hands but a determined heart, Alicia reached for her phone to call for help. In that dark, silent highway, what started as a quiet journey home suddenly turned into a moment that would change everything. And as she looked at the man she had accidentally hit, one question echoed in her mind— Would he survive? Without wasting a second, Alicia rushed out of her car, her heart pounding loudly in her chest. The man lay motionless on the cold pavement, his body covered in blood. “Oh no… please…” she whispered, her hands trembling as she knelt beside him. She quickly checked his pulse. It was weak—but still there. Relief and fear rushed through her at the same time. “You have to stay with me… please don’t give up,” Alicia said, trying to keep her voice steady. Though shaken by what had just happened, her training as a nurse took over. She carefully assessed his condition, noticing the bleeding that needed urgent attention. There was no time to wait. With all her strength, Alicia gently lifted the man and dragged him toward her car. It wasn’t easy—her body was exhausted, her arms weak—but adrenaline pushed her forward. “Hold on… I’m taking you from her bag to press against his wound, trying to slow the bleeding. Her hands were now stained with blood. She ran back to the driver’s seat, started the engine, and drove as fast as she could—her eyes focused, her breathing uneven.
