40 Philippe Philippe sits in the chair next to the bed, playing absentmindedly with the edges of the blanket. Shauna hadn’t been asleep for long when Manon had come back with a pitcher of water. He’d woken her, and she gulped down a few cups before falling right back asleep. She isn’t snoring now. She’s even too exhausted to toss and turn like she had when they were traveling. Manon had come back a few minutes later, her eyes wide. “They decided to bump up the test,” she had whispered through the door. But she wouldn’t say why.
