33 Barin Barin waits in the hall for an eternity before his mother comes out from her meeting. He feels awkward standing there as people walk by and stare, trying to place who he is and what he could be doing there. He paces up and down a small section of the hall, just to look busy as people pass around the corner. He plays with the cuffs of his shirt, buttoning and unbuttoning the fabric. As he passes his mother’s room again, he hears the babble of voices growing louder, presumably as the meeting ends and people get in their last comments. He pauses next to the door and leans against the wall, tapping his foot to get out the nerves.
