Chapter 1

I am what they call a guardian angel, not human but not immortal, but different. I remember the day I found out why I’m so different like it was yesterday …   I sneaked out that night to get some fresh air. I was sitting on a park bench minding my own business, celebrating my birthday alone again (life of an orphan). It was a warm breezy night with a few clouds hanging in the air and a couple of stars showing the faces. Not a bad day to be outside. We can be grateful for what we have even if it is just the splendor of nature.   All of a sudden a guy came and sat next to me. I ignored him - of course, I mean it was a public park he could sit down wherever he wanted. Also I don’t talk to strangers…often. I looked at him trying not to be caught, but he turned his head looking down at me. He smiled at me, it was the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen, I’m sixteen it’s not like I’ve seen much. He unexpectedly said   "Happy Birthday Alexandra." My mouth fell wide open as I stared at this stranger who seemed to know me,but I didn't have a clue as to who he was.     "Don't be so surprised." He said to me. Yeah no why would I be surprised? I froze as he leaned forward to whisper in my ear   "You're not alone after all." I was scared witless by then. As in I’m ready to scream my lungs out and run for the hills, but I also felt a tiny pit intrigued. I got up but he grabbed my wrist not forceful, but still tight enough so that I couldn't get away. With another unexpected smile he asked.   "Where are you going Alex? " That's when I really freaked he was calling me by my nick name that no one really does anymore. I just about got ready to scream my lungs out when he spoke again.   "I don't think that will be such a good idea, you'll draw unneeded attention." That is kind of the point! I dropped to the bench staring at this strange man. Yes I know some guy comes up to me acts like he knows me tells me not to scream and alert anyone in earshot and what do I do I listen to him, clearly my brain is in shock and I'm not completely able to make the safe and right choices here. I sat there struggling to find my voice. When I did all I could mutter was   "w...who ar..re you?" Jup that was my awesome words choice, not leave me alone or go away. I encouraged conversation instead of threatening him with cruel lies of a big boyfriend meeting me there or having pepper spray and not being afraid to use it. He chuckled, maybe at my unsteady voice or at my stupidity. Probably at the latter.   "Hi I'm Austin, you could say I'm a friend in some sense of the word." He laughed once again, this time louder. It was such a warm and welcoming laugh, it made me relax a little and I was able to get a better look at him. He had blonde wavy hair, that looked tempting enough to pull your fingers through it just to feel the softness. He had dark brown eyes that looked so intense. It looked like he could see right through you to the deepest corners of your soul. Was he looking at my soul now? He was well build from his broad shoulders to his defined six pack easy visible against the strain of his white T-shirt. The T-shirt made you notice his sun kissed flawless skin. He cleared his throat and I blushed scarlet red noticing that he noticed me gawking at him. How embarrassing! "I know this is kind of creepy, but I'm here to introduce you to your new life. All the changes you went through was all part of the process. You have been preparing yourself for this day all your life aren't you a little bit curios about why you are so different? Why you seem more beautiful, why your eyes are so unique. You know deep inside you never fit in around here, you are special, you were meant for something better." I've never thought about it like that I just thought I was weird and a introvert with mayor communication issues, I guess not. "Uhm... I guess, sort off." I hesitated not knowing what to say. He laughed and I felt more comfortable as if I've known him my whole life. "You're not exactly human anymore, not since last night at midnight that is. I can prove it to you if you would only come with me." He raised an eyebrow at me holding out his hand I didn't even hesitate I took his hand I know stupid right what if he was a serial killer stalker. but I wanted, no needed to believe him. I needed answers and he seemed to have them I couldn't live as a orphan with a questionable life anymore, this was it, well let's hope this was the way to answers and not a shallow grave
