Day 2,408 – Mainland
A SOAKING WET LENA and Jake stepped out of the boat and onto the mainland by Eva’s cabin. Mari stood on the beach in full protective gear. She held a plastic milk jug in one hand and a bucket filled with debris in the other. Little Gabi peeked out of the bay window.
Matt shared a quick look with Mari as he wiped the sludge off the motor. He stepped out of the boat and hauled it the rest of the way to shore.
“You’ve got to stop standing up in the boat,” Lena grumbled.
“Hey, it’s not my fault that Matt can’t drive to save his life,” Jake growled back.
“Is Adam coming back tonight?” Mari asked.
