Day 2,392 – Sunset
EVA SAT NEXT TO JACOB, both of them with their hands in the water.
“You don’t really need to touch the plastic pieces once you get used to it,” Eva explained, still watching Jacob warily.
“Get used to it? I don’t know if that will ever happen,” Jacob sputtered, but his eyes flashed with newfound purpose. Eva stared into his eyes. They were the same eyes she had fallen in love with a long time ago, but now they were even better despite all the hurt he had caused her. None of this made any sense. Eva shook her head and stared at the ground frowning.
“What? What’s wrong, Eva?” Jacob touched her arm with his dripping hand. The water touched her skin. Eva recoiled out of habit. Jacob flinched and looked hurt by the gesture, but quickly plastered on a smile.
