Day 2,392 – Mainland EVA’S EYELIDS DROOPED; her vision was blurry. She blinked a couple of times, brushing a small pool of water with her eyelashes. Her cheek smushed against the aluminum bottom of the boat. Her head throbbed. The sound of the oars dipping in and out of the water and Adam’s loud huffing made her mind twitch. Her brain felt like it was imploding as thick liquid pooled in her ear canal. She was definitely bleeding. The last things she remembered before everything went dark was lunging at Adam, him swinging an oar in her direction, a loud cracking sound, and an intense stabbing pain.
