Chapter 5: Dinner

1035 Words
Once he got out of the shower 10 minutes later, the cafeteria was about to open in 5 minutes. He was drying his hair with a towel while watching tv. “Can you not take forever drying your hair,” I asked. “Drying my hair takes time,” he said. “So much time that we’re about to miss dinner?” I showed him the time on my phone. The cafeteria was going to open in 4 minutes. “I heard if you’re the first one there,” I said, “you get any option. If you’re the last, you get leftovers.” He gasped. He then threw his towel on his bed, grabbed my hand and ran to the cafeteria with me trying to catch up. “SLOW DOWN,” I yelled. “YOU’RE GOING TO SLOW,” he yelled back. Once we got to the cafeteria, we waited for them to open so we wouldn't be knocked over by a lot of people. When the cafeteria opened, we rushed inside. We got in line as other people were walking and talking in the cafeteria. Blade was the first to order. He ordered a double cheeseburger meal. “Blade, how did you know,” I asked. “I was gonna order that.” “Wow, I didn’t know that,” he said. I then ordered the same thing he did, but added chicken nuggets with my meal instead. When we were about to head out, some tall boy walked up to Blade. I tapped Blade on the shoulder so he could see the tall dude. “Hey dude,” the boy said. “I’m sorry, who are you,” Blade asked. The boy then moved his hair out the way so that Blade could see his face. He looked kinda cute in my opinion. He had light blue eyes, brunette, messy hair that was constantly in his face no matter what way you put it, and dark chocolate skin. Blade, on the other hand, was the same height as the boy, had brown eyes, dark brown, curly hair, and brown chocolate skin. Blade gasped when he saw him and dabbed the boy up with one hand, his food in the other. Afterwards, the boy turned up to me and put out his hand, wanting me to shake it. “Hi,” the boy said. “Hi,” I said, confusingly, shaking his hand. “Who are you exactly?” “I’m Blade’s cousin, Milo,” the boy said, stopping the hand shake. “I surprised him by coming to the same college as him. We haven’t seen each other in a while.” “Oh,” I said. “My name’s Nemy. Nice to meet you.” “Nice to meet you, too.” “Nemy is my girlfriend,” Blade said, putting an arm around my shoulder as I looked at him in shock. “We haven’t really made it official yet.” Milo looked like he wanted to say something, but kept his mouth shut until I said, “Yeah and we have to go back to our dorms before the cafeteria closes,” I said. “What dorm y’all in,” Milo asked. “34,” Blade and I said at the same time. “Same bro,” Milo said. “They told me that number 34 was my dorm, too.” “Let’s go then,” I said, “before the food gets cold.” We all laughed as we talked the whole way to the dorms. Once we got upstairs and into the dorm, Milo settled in. He picked the bed at the far end next to the bathroom, I picked the middle one, and Blade picked the one closest to the door to the outside. I sat on my bed and took my meal out of the bag. I had taken a bite of a fry when the boys pulled out their meal. I had turned on the tv because I realized the time of when my favorite show started. It was Looney Toons. I had grown up on Looney Tunes ever since birth. “Is this Looney Toons,” Blade asked, surprised. “Yeah,” I said. “I didn’t know they still had this show on air,” Blade said. “They will never end Looney Toons, cuz,” Milo said. “This was my favorite show as a kid.” “Same,” Blade and I said at the same time. I finished my food 15 minutes later. They boys were still on their burger. Once I finished eating, I threw my stuff in the trash. “You're done already,” Blade asked. “Yeah,” I said. “I’m almost done, too,” Milo said. “I’m down to my last bite.” “How y’all done before me,” Blade asked. “Cause you are a slow eater,” I said. “Not true,” Blade said with a smile. “Then why aren’t you finished,” Milo asked. “You stay outta this,” Blade said, laughing. That’s when we all started bust out laughing. I collapsed on my bed as Milo got up to throw his trash away. Once Blade was finished, he got up and threw his stuff away as well. “I’m tired,” I said as I yawned. “Same,” Blade said. “Same here,” Milo said. “Welp, we have a whole day tomorrow to explore the place,” Blade said. “It was their fault for starting school on a Friday. Now we can basically do whatever we want tomorrow.” “True,” I said with a shrug. “Night, Milo. Night, Blade.” “Night, Nemy,” Milo said. “Night, Blade.” “Night Milo,” Blade said. “Night, princess. Wait. Can I call you princess?” “Sure,” I said, smiling. Blade smiled back at me and gave me a kiss on the cheek before getting in his bed and under the covers. Milo did the same. I turned off the light and got underneath my covers as well. I can’t wait for a fun day tomorrow.
