Chapter 15: Finally Back To Normal…Kind Of

School starts at 9am and I woke up at 8. I had to wake the boys up so we wouldn’t be late. After waking them up, I kissed Milo and went to the bathroom to do my morning routine.

By the time we were all done, it was 8:55. We walked out the door and to our first classes of the day. Mine was Health which was a little fun cause Milo was in there with me.

When we walked in once the bell rang, Mrs. Bastille gave us a lecture for being “late” when we literally just made it to her class. I was mad. She was lecturing us when she was 15 minutes late to class on Friday.

The whole class period, I was thinking about Megan. I tried to stop thinking about her, but I couldn’t help it. She really hurt me last night, and I told myself that I would never forgive her, but something inside me told me that I should. Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll have a best friend like her ever again, so if I forgive her now, I’ll get my best friend back. I may forgive Blade, too, but I’m not so sure.

After the last class of the day, Milo noticed how upset I was and asked, “What’s wrong, beautiful?”

“I just miss Megan,” I said because I didn’t want to lie to my boyfriend. “I still can’t believe I said all of those horrible things to her.”

Even though she hurt me real bad, I think that everything I told her was unnecessary. For example, this morning, I saw a long text from her around 8:15, while I was in the shower. When I looked at it, she said:

MEGAN: Good morning Nemy. If you got this, that means you didn’t block me. Hopefully. I just want to tell you that I love you, and I miss you so much. So much that it hurts me to where I’m unable to move any parts of my body freely. Looking back, I can’t even recognize myself. Why would I do that to you? To YOU?! You were my best friend and it was silly of me to be jealous. We made a promise and I broke it. I'm so sorry. I hope that we can start off as friends? That can be a start, right? P.S. I need you back.

I want to be her friend again. I wanted to be her best friend again. I wanted to tell her exactly that, but I knew that she probably blocked me because she thought that there was no hope. I want to go to UNC and tell her everything, but I knew it would be a waste of time.

I hold Milo’s hand as we walk back to the dorms.

“Well, Blade and I have a surprise for you when we get back to the dorms,” Milo said. “It’ll make you feel a lot better.”

“Ok,” I said.

Once we met Blade at the dorm room door, I opened it and saw her, Megan, standing right in front of me. I dropped my backpack and gave her a huge hug, crying my eyes out.

“I’m sorry I said those things to you,” I said, sobbing. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean any of it. I was just angry and I wasn’t thinking clearly of who I was talking to-.”

“Shhhh,” she said, cutting me off. “Don’t worry about it. Besides, I’m the one who's supposed to be saying sorry to both you and Milo. I should have never done that.”

“It’s ok,” I said, calming down a little bit.

“Yeah,” Milo said, “it is.”

We let go and Blade walked up to Megan.

“Hey, princess,” Blade said.

“Hey,” she said.

They leaned in for a kiss.

“Hold up,” I said as they pulled away from each other. “What happened to April?”

“Isn’t it obvious,” she asked. “I’m April. He just said April because he knew you would be more mad, and I didn’t want that.”

“But you kissed my man last night,” I said.

“Just because I did that doesn’t mean actually I like him,” she said, getting out of Blade’s grasp. “I was going for Milo first to see if I like him, but that’s when I realized I didn’t.”

“So I was your second choice,” Blade said.

“Kind of,” she said, turning to Blade, “but you're my first choice now.”

They kissed again.

“At least now she finally found someone,” I said. “I’ve just got to get used to this.”

“Same here,” Milo said, putting a hand around my waist.

“But I’m happier that I found you,” I said.

Milo turned his head to look at me. He had a big smile on his face. I kissed him and he kissed me back.
