Christmas was right around the corner and we all decided to do the same thing we did for Thanksgiving: all have dinner at my house.
When we arrived in Houston, we all drove in a rental car to get to my house. Their families said that they’ll be coming over to my house soon, so we have to be the first ones here to greet them. Once we arrived at my house, I unlocked the door and opened it.
“Hey, fam,” I called out, closing the door behind us. “Guess who’s home!”
“NEMY,” Elijah yelled. He ran over to me and pulled me into a big hug. Then, mom and dad walked over as well, gave me a hug, and greeted Megan, Blade, and Milo.
My dad was surprisingly nice to Milo considering that he was my boyfriend and all. I was surprised that he was ok with it. About 10 minutes later, Blade’s family and Megan’s family came through the door and sat around the dining room table. While we all talked at the table, dad was cooking the food.
“So, how did you all meet,” Blade’s dad asked.
“Blade and I have the same first period class on Fridays and Mondays,” I said. “We met on the first day of school.”
“Was there ever anything going between the two of you,” Blade’s mom asked, teasingly. “I mean, he was dating a girl at the time, but did he ever get with you?”
“Ma,” Blade hissed.
“No ma’am,” I said. “We didn’t.”
“But didn’t y’all kiss,” Megan asked.
I glared at her with wide eyes and said in a stern voice, “No, we didn’t, Megan.”
“Yeah, mom,” Blade said, grabbing Megan’s hand and holding it tight. “We didn’t, but Megan and I did. She’s my girlfriend.”
His parents looked shocked, but was completely fine with it. Megan’s parents were also ok with it, so everything was fine.
“Yeah, and Milo is my boyfriend,” I said, looking at Milo and smiling.
I looked over at Elijah who was looking at Walter with a sad look. I felt so bad. I wanted to do something so bad, but I didn’t know what to do.
After dinner, our parents forced us upstairs again. We all went to Elijah’s room and talked and laughed.
“So, how’s college for y’all,” Elijah asked.
“It’s actually not that bad,” I said. “It’s just Mrs. Bastille.”
“Mrs. Bastille,” Elijah asked.
“Our Health teacher,” Milo said. “The worst. She’s teaching us about the importance of staying healthy.”
“Yeah and she’s always so mean for no reason,” Blade said.
“I know,” I said. “When you’re one minute late to class, she’ll give the whole class a lecture about the importance of being on time for class.”
“That’s bogus,” Elijah said. “What about you, Megan? How's Dallas?”
“Boring,” Megan said. “No sort of fun or drama happening for me.”
“Dang,” Elijah said. “That's sad.”
“Elijah, can I speak with you in private please,” Walter asked.
Elijah’s face darkens as he nods and follows him into the other room. I don’t know what’s going on, but I hope it's something good.
While they were gone, we were still talking. When they got back though, they were both smiling and holding hands, something I never thought I’d see.
They probably got back together for the time being until Walter goes to military school. I know that Elijah’s gonna be sad when he leaves. They love each other. They shouldn’t be separated because they’re going to different places.
After hours of talking, it was time for us to get back to school. We all said our goodbyes, got into the cab, and drove to the airport to catch our flight and get back.
