There was one thing that remained unknown: if Nicole was against k********g her sister and cousin. Who was the tall girl who took them? Underneath all this chaos that was occurring was the real relative of the Jacksons, their aunt Caroline. She knew her sisters (Allie and Evie's mothers) were gone and that their fathers were set on abandoning them when they became 13. She'd also planned to take Nicole but she was too late. Now she had a chance to fix her mistake back then and save these girls and find Nicole. Lucky for her, she didn't have any trouble doing that because of the case of a random man who was k********g women and killing them. Nicole stood in court that day for all the women as well as her mother. As she was leaving, she heard a familiar voice behind her.
"I thought you were very capable of taking care of yourself?"
"Aunt Caroline!" She exclaimed happily as she wrapped her arms around her waist in a tight embrace. They caught each other up with what had been going on in their lives. Caroline told her about everything that she'd done as well as their father's plans. Nicole realized her hate for her mother for all those years was pointless. Her mother had died a few months after she birthed Allie. Her schizophrenia had developed since she was a little girl. Although she had the condition, her aunt told her that seeing ghosts wasn't a part of it. She'd been playing with the ghosts before her condition had even started. She narrated how she would play with multiple people and no one would be there. Her mother knew what she was seeing though, because she, too, had seen ghosts since she was young. They arrived at Caroline's house and she saw her cousin and sister pretending to be chefs as they baked brownies in the oven.
"Long time no see, huh sis?"
"Woah you look just like mom and aunt Caroline"
"I'm your older sister, Nicole"
"I have an older sister, cool!"
"Yeah!" Nicole exclaimed with a forced smile on her face. She still felt repulsive at the thought of her sister but she still complied.
They played and laughed together. Unbeknownst to them, their aunt was not the person they thought she was. There was a reason they weren't allowed to see her. She was full of jealousy of her sisters and multiple times she'd been arrested for stalking, k********g, and attempted murder. When Nicole was a baby, Caroline dropped her on the balcony of a 6-story building. She was on the sixth story. She was then arrested for trying to kill her. After this incident, she was given a restraining order against the entirety of both her sister's families. The very loud "Aunt Caroline" was heard by the officers in the courtroom the day of Aiden's trial. This caused a slight rise in suspicion because these were the same officers that arrested Caroline on a regular basis in the past. They tailed Caroline's car until it arrived at her residence, confirming their suspicions. They had been given an arrest warrant for Caroline and were awaiting a search warrant in case it was needed. The girls inside the house were unaware of this and continued their games. 5 minutes later, the door was broken down and the little girls ran and hid in shock. They watched as their aunt was put in cuffs and taken away.
"Caroline Williams you're under arrest …."The officer stated her rights as they pushed her into the car and drove away. The children's fathers showed up to take them home. The girls were poisoned with the lies about their family that their aunt had told them. For about 4 hours, the fathers explained everything about their mothers and how their family were wanted criminals for performing illegal witchcraft. They were unaware of this before they got married. Apparently, their plan was that if they went down, then they were going to take some people down with them as well. All the girls thought their mothers were amazing people, but the truth always comes out in the end. They decided to get some sleep to help them digest the heavy load of information they'd just received. The brothers had already known about this because witchcraft only ran through the female side of the family. They all went home and slept peacefully. The fathers were happy to be able to spend time with their daughters the next day. Even though happiness remained at the front of their minds, they both had a nagging feeling that something was still wrong. The same question haunted both fathers all night. Will the three girls make it to the next day or will something occur preventing them from doing so? All threats to the children had been eliminated, so the fathers pushed the disturbing thought to the back of their minds and slept peacefully. The next morning, the fathers woke up to the most frightening sight. All three girls were foaming at the mouth. They were rushed to the hospital but it was too late. They found out that Caroline had injected Allie and Evie with large amounts of liquid rat poison over the course of 3 months. It was a miracle how they survived that long with it coursing through their veins. As for Nicole, she had died from her previous d**g overdose. It hadn't all been gotten rid of, causing it to react with other drugs she took, causing her to die. In the end, the criminals won. Having left both families devastated and with face-whitening trauma that would definitely haunt them for generations to come. Caroline's sentence changed from life in prison without parole to a death sentence by lethal injection. She got what she wanted and died with a smile of victory on her face. Aiden was still serving multiple life sentences after being rejected for parole many times. The Jacksons and the Smiths remained scarred for life by this incident, and it remains as a reminder to them that family can backstab too.
