Chapter 11 - What an unsurprising ‘miracle’... ___________ Right on cue, The maid came through the door holding in a royal blue silky sleepwear piece with spaghetti straps on a triangular piece of exquisite wood. She came closer towards us… “Drop it on the bed and leave”. “Yes Sir Cassian”. After she shut the door behind her, I turned my eyes from the door to the man whose emotions were slowly dragging me to both confusion and fear of the unknown… I could swear on my pathetic life that I just saw the colour of the aura surrounding him filled with uncontrollable rage and killing intent, to the point where it spread rapidly across the room in waves… …If I was in any way unable to see people's emotions depending on the colour of the auras surrounding them, just the amount of chill that spread across my body, from my spine to my head, was enough to tell me that whatever the man behind me was thinking, was nothing but bad. ‘...Why did he look at my neck that way…’ ‘Heck…’ …Is he already trying to do whatever it is he's got in that head of his.. …Wait… …This is just too sketchy. After giving me a bath, he wants to commit murder…? …It's either there is something wrong with his head, or he is just a psychopath that enjoys picking up ‘beggars’, then murdering them. ‘f**k, why the hell didn't I think of this earlier’. I looked down at my pale finger that was already turning another shade whiter from clenching the little rod I had just washed in the bathtub. I glanced over at the man beside me and met his gaze. I quickly averted my eyes as soon as they met his deep blue ones. ‘Damn..’ ‘What do I do…’ My fingernails anxiously scratched the little rod in my hands in an useless attempt to calm myself down and think of possible escape routes… I knew that was impossible, but what could I do… “...cia” “-Alicia!!”. I snapped my head up in shock, as I turned my head towards the man who now stood beside the huge king sized bed, looking at me worriedly. I stared at his still-bloodied figure from the crash and the fear hidden deep within me immediately seized my whole body as I sat rooted on the chair and stared at him… ‘... isn't he supposed to at least change his clothes’. ‘.Hah, Alicia…’ ‘Still so damn stupid’. His emotions had told me one thing, then another thing that is now making me regret my decision of not struggling harder when he saw me in that alley… ‘What am I supposed to believe now’. “Are you okay”. He asked, his voice laced with undisguised worry. I couldn't respond… … Even if I could, I still won't!!.. “ Come here” He beckoned me, using his voice. I just stared at him in silence, before standing from my position and walking over to him, dragging my feet… I stopped a distance away from him, at least three feets, clenching the little rod in my hands tightly. “Wear this”. He walked over to me, closing the little distance between us. He reached out his hands towards me and I couldn't help but flinch slightly, as if expecting something to go wrong… …What I expected didn't happen… … Instead… …I felt a rough, calloused hand grab mine gently as if afraid it would break. He then placed the piece of garment that was laid on the bed, into my hand. “Change into this over there” he said while free hand to point at a corner of the room, where a huge walk-in closet was… “I'll just go get something for you to eat, yeah?”. He straightened his posture and moved away from me, putting a distance between us once again. He smiled at me gently, his eyes closing slightly, then walked away, showing me the back of his shredded clothes that were soaked in his blood. Unsurprisingly… I saw that the injuries on his back was ‘miraculously’ back to its original condition, like the accident didn't even happen, if not for his blood stained clothes that gave him away, I would have believed I had imagined everything… …Until I saw him walk out the door, closing it behind him, did I finally move. I discarded the clothes he had given to me to the ground and hurried over to the window. The sky was already dark but I could still see the surroundings due to the lightning in the mansion. ‘ The mansion is too far from the main gate, talk more of the maze-like garden leading to it'. ‘ I would be caught before I could even reach it’... …I walked over to the door Cassian and the maid had disappeared to. My feet stopped in their movements as I stood closer to the door… ‘He..’ …The door was left a bit ajar. Just this little action of his had wiped the lingering distrust and fear that had been eating me up since his sudden outburst of negative emotions that put me on the edge… I turned around and walked back to where I had discarded the clothes he had handed to me. After picking it up, I walked over towards the direction he had pointed out to me earlier… …The walk-in closet was completely devoid of what was supposed to fill it. I stared at the soft piece of cloth in my hand, I placed it on an empty space, then began loosening the belt of the bathrobe that was wrapped loosely around my waist… … ^ ^
